Cold Steel Bushman

I still desperately want one of those--what was the website that was off of again? I recall it was Japanese, but that doesn't help me out much! :p

It is a fantastic blade. I've never heard anyone complain about one, just the fact that they don't use it often because they have another bajillion knives first. (my problem) I have a mini-bushman that Bushman 5 Sent me and it is one of my all time favorite knives.

ah thats right, I couldn't for the life of me figure out who i had sent that too.....

Here's mine:

Mods include:
Kydex sheath
choil
grip tape on handle
rubber caps on either handle end
handle sealed with plasti-dip
convex edge (too much work to do the whole secondary grind, so I just did the edge)

very nice setup.
awfully curious, did that cool kydex (?) sheath cost more than the price of the knife?
never did figure to upgrade the knife from it's original packaged form of cheapo nylon.

Slightly more (about $28). Don't know the maker, bought it second-hand.

ah, not too bad a price to pay.
sure does make a whole lotta difference; certainly with an added air of dignity about it that commands more respect.

Sorry for the bump, but this blade deserves all the credit it gets.
Easy to mod too, if you want a small one just chop the blade, I drop pointed mine, removed the coating, and took about 3/4'' off the handle.
Erlkonig, nice mods!

bicycle innertube makes a good handle wrap as well. Could be used in a pinch for a slingshot , hawiian sling, ect.

I picked up a mini-bushman recently. Anybody have any wrap tips for me? These need a slightly different wrap style than the full sized Bushman, which I have (and have wrapped).

I have a few Cold Steel Bushman knives. They are fine for what they are and I enjoy using them. I have modified one that came pre mod'ed. I believe I will mod it again to be a smaller one.

I like mine considering what I paid for it. I beat the hell out of it a couple months back here at work on a pile of two by fours , the edge did chip but that was expected taking into account how bad I used it.

IMO a great knife to keep for dirty chores.

I've had mine for many years. I Cut a champagne bottle cork in half and stuffed the small end up towards the blade end and used the mushroom end to plug the pommel, and it holds lots of stuff and the corks can be used as fishing bobbers.
I wrapped the handle in paracord and covered it with a few Ranger bands and the handle feels very comfy.
It throws really well, IMO, and the older ones have really tough steel.

Have fun with it:)

I have two bushmans, the full size and the mini. The mini bush is one of my favorite small knives. It's the perfect size for a large wood carving knife and is an excellent med/large game field dresser. It batons great and can be flexed quite a bit with out taking a set. I actually like the low hardness of the blade because in my area there are many natural stones that will sharpen it quickly and easily, which keeps me from carrying sharpening equipment. I found that even with the wrap I was not completely confident I would not slip down onto the edge so I cut a 1/8in square out of the bottom of the blade and made a shelf. I find it much more comfortable and ease to control now.

Thanks again for the info. I like the jimping you put on the spine of your mini too. Looks like it gives serious traction.
