First word that comes to mind when you see and hold this knife is BADA**! Ha ever since I starting watching boardwalk empire(great show btw) and saw James 'Jimmy' Darmody edcing his 1918 Trench Knife I've been lusting and scouring the web for a modern version of it. Most on the market are of the cheap mall ninja variety so no interest there. An orginal is out of the question because a) rarity of finding one b) price for said knife if you found a legit one and lastly c) I would never want to actually use an orginal for fear of damaging it.

So you can imagine my happiness when I heard cold steel was adding a modern trench knife to their 2013 lineup months ago. No one had them in stock still so I decided to just preorder one from knifecenter a couple weeks ago. I figured might as well so that I could get one as soon as they eventually were out. Couple days ago recieved an email and today I received my knife. I couldn't be more pleased.

The ergos on this knife are amazing. Feels incredibly solid and like it could actually perform its intended use with no problem. I ordered the double edge and it came razor sharp per the norm from cold steel. The skull crusher has a blunted tip but would definately do some damage if applied. The sheath is quality as well solid retention and no rattle.

This is definitely not a knife to carry around town and would prob create some legal issues for yourself depending on your location. But as a self defense blade in a shtf, wrol, or zombie apocalypse scenario I think it would excel. For me it's just an awesome blade to fondle and have in the collection.

Also thank you to knifecenter for getting this dream blade to me fast and at a decent price $66 shipped as of this posting.

Is this the right area to talk about this? Kinda surprised no one else is pumped up about this blade.

While I would never purchase it and I'm not a fan of Cold Steel, it is mean looking. As long as you like it.

Oh, boohoo. ^^ So is speeding. :D

I can't really get too excited about something that can only sit around at home and not get used. When are you ever going to use something like this? You aren't going into WWI trench warfare.

Ha it's a knife and its sharp. You can use it for everything else you use a knife for. Is it overkill tho? Yeah probably lol

Not planning on trench warfare, but if I was still active duty this would prob replace my kabar in my E&E bag. Something to have and hope to never use just like any self defense tool or weapon you would own.

I'll take this(pic) any day over that

That's like saying I'd rather have a Sebenza than a $40 kershaw. Well no sh** so would 99% of the rest of us. But not everyone is willing or able to justify spending x10 the amount of cash for a tool that can perform the same job.

Well like I said In active duty I would take the AA over the CS its not about the money I think:) if it can save your life! So if I was in life and death situation like that that is what I would take over.

At least the Busse isn't ugly.

Ha well that's your option and you're entitled to it. That's what makes discussions interesting. Some guys get worked up over the same knife they already own but in a different color g-10. That's something I could care less about.

I think the chaos is a pretty sick knife and cold steel did a pretty good job making a useable and affordable modern version of the classic 1918 trench knife. That's my option.

That's cool man. You would be carrying in style for sure. The busse is a good looking knife too. I just cant justify the price myself. If money wasn't an option there are custom trench knifes out there that blow both of these away I would consider.

I'm just sharing my first impressions of this knife that's pretty affordable to most people. Nothing feels cheap at all with this knife in hand. Even tho its overseas produced the QC is there.
