Cold steel colossus locked open

Good afternoon.
I just bought the Colossus. When it arrived I opened and closed it a couple of times then i proceeded to open it using that latch platform that catches on to the pocket and opens and when it opened it stuck on the open position and now it won't close anymore! The lock is now impossible to press and the knife is locked open! How should i proceed? I would love to send the knife back to Cold Steel so they could have a look but i am currently in Brazil and international shipping here is extremely inefficient and costly. I also didn't find anyone online with the same problem so I think this is a really rare occurrence. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you.

Sometimes the lock is sticky on new Cold Steel knives. Have you tried using something besides fingers and thumbs to disengage the lock (the corner of a wall, etc.)?

That's very unusual.
The Tri-Ad can be stiff out of the box sometimes, but it rarely sticks.
Try putting a towel or cloth on the corner of a table and compressing the lock using the "spine" of the table.
If it disengages the lock, put a few drops of oil in there and work it open and closed a few times
Let me know if that helps
Thanks!

That worked perfectly. Thank you so much! I used a corner of a table with a towel and leaned my body weight on top like cold steel told me to below.

This problem is NOT unusual at all . My largest Holdout took a very long time to work in . Had same problem on my XL Talwar bad too .

Cold Steel QC has gone into the crapper and don't think anybody is fooled by your lies ! For shame - CS used to care .

Dude chill out. I gots tons of triads and never had that problem. Progress not perfection.

TriAD is the most secure lock in a production folder...and most customs-- except maybe Demko's own handmade models.

I've never had an issue like you speak of with any of my TriADs and I pocket wave, wrist flick, sling em open, and open them conventionally for good measure.

Here's part of my collection, I'd say it's a fair sampling...how many have you owned/used?

BTW, got a Colossus in the mail

I've experienced the temporary stickiness before. Always was able to disengage with thumb. If that's the price to pay for a lock that is completely confidence-inspiring I think it's worth it. Would I want all of my folders to have a Tri-Ad lock? No.

Sorry , partly I'm just really PO'd that the Talwar is discontinued and I am deeply disappointed that the " Colossus" seems ill conceived for anything but slicing . Surely NOT a Talwar replacement .

But the poor QC is a real issue -search it and see for yourselves .I've been using/collecting blades for over 50 yrs and the reduction in QC is nearly universal .

The Colossus is my personal carry knife of choice. I purchased one the day it was released and I've carried it pretty much every day since then.
I've had no issues at all, and it has quickly become one of my all-time favorite blades for just day to day carry and use.
I'm a big fan of Mike Wallace's custom blades and I think he designed something really unique here.

I've been with Cold Steel in a variety of different roles for years. Our quality control tests are as tough as they've always been.
We take great pride in our products performance and we stand by them 100%

Have had about a dozen CS Triads and havent had any issues...all worked great out of the box...no "break-in" required. The only times I thought there might be an issue, turned out to be pocket lint.

This appears to be a forum for fanboys and factory reps , so I'll leave you to your illusions .

Say whaaaa?! The Cold Steel forum is for Cold Steel fans and employees?! Whodathunkit?!
You're griping like an 80 year old man giving a "back in my day" rant, because you're mad about a $75 knife being taken out of production and you're throwing a fit about that like a an 8 year old who found out his favorite cartoon was cancelled. Ok then

I dunno but I always thought people buy CS because they like and use knives. Don't really see the blind worship you do with other brands.

Pretty sure you missed the point completely. There are indeed fans of Cold Steel here, it is after all a Cold Steel forum. Most have not suffered any issues with their knives. I'm not a big fan but i do have a few and enjoy them. Just like I enjoy all the other brands I use. If I have a problem I simply deal with customer service instead of going to a forum and throwing a fit like a 5yr old.

A sticky lock doesn't really count as much of a problem to me. It happens. I can fix it in a couple of minutes so not a big deal. Discontinuing a blade I like, well too bad I'm sad, should have bought an extra. My bad, certainly not the company that is dealing with the bottom line.

That's all very mature of you Dave, my lad . May you still feel the same at my age and be spared the mountains of BS I've lived thru . May you also be spared being lectured by one such as yourself with a tiny fraction of your life experience . Pride goeth etc .
