Just a little update on the Immortal - I'm actually working on a full review but I'll have to use it more before it's dedicated thread worth - this knife really is another unsung hero.
To my knowledge this is the only tanto blade (unless it's a push dagger of sorts) that has negative blade angle because of the enlarged tip.
Much like on the Colossus, this aspect really facilitates the cut, so much so that for the weight this one is much better than say a large tanto Voyager or a Recon 1 tanto for chopping and slashing, and when cutting hard material this really helps reduce slipping as well. In addition to that - not sure if wanted, but definitely welcome - this is the only tanto styled blade that I own that doesn't suck on a cutting board - hell it even slices better than some bellied ones:
That downward angle makes it much easier to make contact with the board in the exact spot where where the grind changes, and despite the big guard because of some magic that happens there you somewhat always get the food perfectly aligned for the cut.
It's kinda hard to explain, but it simply is a knife that cuts way better, and is way more versatile than one would expect - and looks good doing it!
Bravo again Mike, this one is definitely a keeper for me.
Oh one more thing, the more I look at the Colossus the more I wonder: the Immortal definitely is a combat inspired blade and everybody can tell, but the Colossus looks more on the fence to me. Maybe you sorta had the Smatchet in mind when conceiving it? I figured I'd ask you because the smatchet is the only fighter style blade that I can think of when looking at it, and honestly that makes me happy regardless if intended or not because I love the smatchet design, and there is no other good folding one the market. Böker does one but with a liner lock it's kinda meh.
