Cold Steel GI Tanto Video Destruction Test Completed

Wow. Great test Noss and thanks again. I was going to order some tonight also but had no idea how fast they would sell out so it is a good thing I ordered the one I did. It looks like the other knives in that line are sold out at places also.

Great tests, knifetests.com is sweet. Maybe I missed it but how do you pay for all the knives you test ?

I have a GI Tanto on order, should be here any day now. I sure am glad I ordered it now, looks to be one hell of a knife. I really still can't believe how well it did in the tests.

Budk has them listed as" in stock".

Thanks for the tests Noss4. You do an extremely thorough job and make it very interesting. I'm definitely gonna get one of these when I can. Like you said its a knife I can afford to have fun with and not panic if it gets beat up or lost.

Your welcome men.:)

wingchun74: I'm not rich or anything like that, far from it. It's not cheap to do.It's a hobby and like all hobbies their not cheap but I have fun doing it. I'm glad you found some in stock. and some of you were able to get one.

After doing several tests now I have narrowed down a testing procedure that will help standardize the tests. I will post it on the website in a few days.
and I will follow it on all upcoming knives. Plus some field testing on select knives.

Thanks

I know that the cold steel Trailmaster was made at camillus, I wonder if the G.I. Tanto was also. maybe thats why no one has them in stock!

Wow noss4, expensive hobby. I'm glad that your hobby helps us not spend money to find out that a knife isn't up to snuff.
I've been seeing alot more written about knifetests.com lately. Maybe someday companies will send you knives to test to validate thier products. It's a great idea, the consumer reports for knives. Thanks again!!!

The low to medium carbon steels are indeed very tough. They are also very cheap to buy, grind and harden. They are the idea steels to use to make these kinds of heavy use knives. Unfortuntately people disregard them as they are cheap and instead buy $300+ knives made out of steels which are ultra-brittle in comparison and actually make far worse knives.

Nice work.

This review will boost the sale figures of CS!! Now I also ‘need’ one or two or three...

Nice test and a nice knife.

I think you have a great hobby noss4, it's made even better by the fact that you choose to share your knowledge gleaned from it with all of us.

Thanks for the videos, http://www.knifetests.com has found a home on my permanent bookmarks :)

Keep up the great work!

I had a true flight, they are not meant to cut anything oob. Takes a hell of a lot of sharpening to get them anywhere near knifehood.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. Your very welcome. I love doing this for everyone. I will continue to bring fun and exciting new tests to the site.
And a very special thanks to JGarth for sending me a new GI Tanto. I'll post some photos of it when I get.
Cyanide Ride: Thanks for the bookmark :)

Thanks,
Noss4

so it seems like the gi tanto can handle a lot of abuse but what about the cutting abilities ? how long can this knife keep a sharp edge?
