so what do you guys think Cold Steel should work on for the 2013 lineup ?...it looks like they're missing a few things in their 2012 lineup, anybody have any good ideas ?

I think maybe they should make a Spear Point Voyager....XL Recon 1 would also be a good idea....bring back the Barong Machetes and make some new folder designs and new machete and fixed blade designs. I also think they need to work on a better tanto design....also need a Mini Magnum Kukri with 9 or 10 inch blade and a Magnum Kukri folder with a 5 or 6 inch blade.

It would be good if they made a Mini Magnum Kukri with 9 or 10 inches blade that you could carry on your belt like a bowie knife, I think that's what I want them to make the most and a big Magnum Kukri folder.

I think they have folders covered very well at this point, but maybe something with a wharncliffe blade would be nice? For swords, I believe their lack of a Dao is still massive oversight, especially when they have multiple Jian style swords. I also hope they stop recycling the same designs on their swords with slight modifications (1830 Napoleon Saber, 1815 French Officer's, and 1860 Cavalry sword) because there's a lot of untapped designs still worthy of their touch.

Maybe stop coating everything black as well?

Less blade coatings! Or at least offer models without the paint...uh, I mean coating :D Stonewashed would be great. Also, some more liner lock models would be nice as well IMO. The Tri-Ad lock is excellent but it gets boring when most of their knives have it.

maybe a machete with the same blade shape as the leatherneck, and they really need to put an actual sharp edge on their factory edges for machetes,if they did that I wouldn't mind paying a little extra.

Id, loye for them to bring back the spectre as a budget liner lock. say all g10 handles flat. liner lock and ausa-8 blade. it would sell for about 40 bucks and be just freaking awesome. the spectre is the only folding knife from cold steel other than the ti-lite that just jumps out at me. its slim and wasplike.

I really liked the lines of the origional knife but the knives price was just rediculous. great looking but it should have been sold for about a quarter the price, which would have made it something id have grabbed 2-3 of. but 400 is a joke.

I posted it elsewhere, but I'll throw it here as well: I wish CS would offer their FRN and G-10 handles in different colors, hopefully some bright ones. Gimme some blues and greens and oranges to lighten up the look of the line and bring in more customers. Make 'em as stabby and strong as always, but reach out to a larger demographic and give folks some choices (other than which black blade and black handle do you want).

And don't dilute your G-10 offerings any further. The manufacturing can obviously be outsourced easily, so go after whoever Spyderco is using and ditch the "faux" stuff that's likely going to run full price (for us) anyway.

Lastly, bring back the thinner handle profile of the Voyager series and that lovely satin or polished finish.

Would have liked to see what it would be like to have a non-AUS8 folder with the Triad lock.

I think you're going to have to get an Andrew Demko custom than, because I don't think a steel upgrade is anywhere in the near future. Profit margins must be too good with the AUS8 they're using currently.

I'm also a bit disappointed to see that the Shasqua and the 1815 French Officer's sword are nearly twice the price of their usual offerings, which I assume can be attributed to the engravings on the blade. I would take the Shasqua without engravings if it meant halving the price.

Another request for the Barong machete to return to the lineup. I find them really useful tools - much more so for my purposes than the other types of their machetes I've tried. I gave away half a dozen of the 18" models for Christmas presents.

I would be willing to put in a large order for for some shields much bigger than the Medieval Buckler. No phalanx of mine is going to invade Persia with just those little round things. Plus maybe a beefed up Recon 1 that will penetrate the chariot of Darius III.

A smaller, durable knife for "normal people" that doesn't have a handle that looks as if it was designed for a spider-monkey.

The new 2012 machetes seem to come fully sharpened. As far as their presently available selection goes I know of at least one source where you can get them already sharpened. ;)

I think they need more sabers. :D:D:D

Seriously though, I love sabers and I think they've got too many. If they're gonna' keep pumping those out at least mix it up a little with something more ethnic, like a kilj or a tegha.

How about releasing a copy of each of their products in a higher grade of steel?
They'd still get the bargain buyers, AND they'd get the knife-knut revenue as well.:)

As I said on the CS 2012 thread; I think CS should offer a offer a 10 or 12" blade Smatchet. Virtually no one offers those knifes, and the design and size of a Smatchet should make it an obvious choice for Cold Steel. I agree with the post above about the boring repetition of "officers" swords. Make a real Gladius for crying out loud, and bring back the large Dao [ as mentioned above] and spare us more Jian swords.
Also bring out a full sized fixed blade Persian and revive the folding Scimitar with a 5 or 6" blade this time.
