Cold Steel ideas for next years lineup ?

How about releasing a copy of each of their products in a higher grade of steel?
They'd still get the bargain buyers, AND they'd get the knife-knut revenue as well.:)

If they were a higher grade steel, I doubt they'd be bargains.

Surely not.
What I mean is that they should keep the current "bargain" line-up, and add a higher quality (and higher priced) version as well.:)
I'd like a Rajah 2 with VG-1 or some other good steel and a micarta handle (although my AUS-8 and Grivory one does the trick and is a beast of a knife).

I thought he was saying to release them in both configurations. And while they're at it, they can make the higher grade steels without the blade coatings. Two birds with one stone, and all.

I wish Cold Steel would make a seriously large folder.
And I'd like to see LT demo it by slicing a hanging rhinoceros carcass in half.

Really surprised they didn't release a gladius this year. Maybe make a nice Arab Jambia on par with their sword fittings. And how about a basket hilted machete for fun's sake?

Doubtful. I think they'd more likely put a more traditionally shaped handle on it. Look at the rerelease of the kopis. Much more in line with the historical form. Though it's still a modern machete with a molded handle, so it's a little ironic.

In the first post in this thread I said they should make a new tanto design, but I think Cold Steel's current tanto works just fine but it gets boring after a while. It would be better to have a choice of some different type of tantos and keep the current one.

I love Demko's Triad Lock and I love my CRKT Folding Razel #4030. I'd love a razel type of knife with a 3.5" blade, v-grind, same canted-backwards chisel face/end, with black G10 scales, tip-up carry, and the Triad Lock. If I already have CRKT's then why would I want another? Because I trust the Triad Lock more than any other folder locking mechanism (save ER's steel thru pin).

I'd love to see the Voyager series ( and possibly the Lawmen ) offered in premium blade steels such as S30V or VG-10 ( seeing as they're located in Asia ) and maybe something off the wall like ZDP-189.

VG-10 would be sweet indeed.

I'd like to see sprint runs in high-end steels. Benchmade & Spyderco make the sprint thing work & Cold Steel has it's own hardcore fan base who'd buy them up. Gimme a Vaquero Voyager in Talwar level dress with ZDP-189.

Cold Steel has made a name for them self by claiming the superiority of whatever steel that they are selling at the time, I watched through the 90's and 00's as they bashed all other steel types except theirs. I would be extremely suprised if they started using anything but their old standbys.

And as as smatchets are concerned most companies that make them in short runs due to the inherent danger of making something that large and double-edged. I think it was either Buck or Wells Creek that actually had a few employees lose fingers or hands during their production run of smatchets. And almost everybody else that makes them either does short production runs or charges a premium for them, most likely due to the fact that it takes fairly skilled grinder to make/finish one. Those highly skilled production grinder/finisher guys are usually to valuable to tie up on a relatively low demand item like a smatchet.

Exactly my thoughts as well.

Edited... double post.

Yet another vote for making versions of some of their bread-and-butter folders -- the American Lawman and Recon 1 are the two I'd be most interested in -- with higher-end steels.
