Cold Steel Knives Cause Cancer ?

Warning, this warning that this warning may cause cancer may also cause cancer.

Prop 65 is the kind of thing that doesn't even make sense to begin with, it's based on stupidity not science. For example, if you feed a rat half of its own body weight in some substance and it gets cancer, then California will list a product containing that substance as causing cancer even though it contains oh, say, a millionth of a human's body weight of the substance.

Nothing to worry about. Years ago, I ordered a Buck 301, and the box it came in had that cancer warning. Back then, I called Buck, and they said it was just required that they include that warning on their boxes. I don't recall if the rep said it was only if sold in CA or not.
Jim
I just bought a Buck 110 in Canada last year and that warning was on the box. I just figured it doesn't really apply north of the US border. Here only smoking causes cancer.;)

You guys do get quality scary warnings on your cigarette packs, though. The limp cigarette one is my favorite.

Of course, the key in Canada to giving yourself cancer with cigarettes in a financially sensible (10x - 50x less expensive) way is to get your smokes on a reservation (easy enough to hook up in Canada, there are reservations everywhere).

Looking at the cold steel knives at midwayusa theres a disclaimer at the bottom of most of their knives ; WARNING: This product can expose you to Nickel (Metallic), which is known to the State of California to cause cancer. For more information go to - www.P65Warnings.ca.gov. This is new to me; theres also a lead warning on some stag bokers made in Argentina. It only seems to be on those knives not benchmade or others. Its not like your grinding them down to dust and breathing them in,unless theyre saying nickel is radiating off the blades ? Any thoughts ?
Just don't buy it in California and you'll be fine.

They have recently discovered that saliva causes cancer. But only when taken in small doses over a long period of time.

I have no doubt a lot of companies are putting that required CA warning just to cover their butt in case something turns up down the road. (Hey we warned you!)

As far as nickle is concerned, I just did a bit of reading on the subject as someone told me they were allergic to nickle which I found very surprising and strange and so read up on it. I didn't know why they wouldn't be allergic to any of the other coins...

Turns out there people can have an allergic skin reaction to nickle though it is somewhat rare. Does not affect most people in any way. Apparently, once you are allergic, it does not go away. No mention was made about nickle being carcinogenic in any way, at least not in my readings.

Haha! True, but you'll have cancer by the time you get home with those smokes! $10 for 200 horse choking butts!

Everything in the State, I should say Country, of California causes cancer.

If you were to breathe the fumes of molten nickel, chrome and various other components of stainless steel and other alloys it could be a health hazard as they
accumulate in the body. That said Cali laws are BS and we’re working to rid the state of these destroyers, the politicians, who drag the state into the gutter.
