The old steel knives will become ridiculously collectible as time goes on, especially because the vast majority were used and not safe queens because they were made to be used and offered at a price that you weren’t scared to use the heck out of them. Reminds me of Glock collectors market.
Secondly, WHEN GSM completely shits the bed and makes terrible knives, old steel prices skyrocket but I bet they’ll do ok for a while because they’ll keep all the old manufacturing contract in place while they make the transition to cheaper options in materials and labor. Then, some accountant will be tasked to cut overhead by some small percentage, they switch manufacturers/suppliers to get their 2-3% reduction, 3-4 idiots in the C-suite will get really big bonuses for hitting their quarterly numbers and this will be the death of Cold Steel.
What also matters is that the company sold to a corporate giant, who’s doesn’t care at all about knives, and all the Lynn era old steel knives will be extremely collectible. It’s even easier for the collector market to take off because they changed the logo. I’m panic buying like crazy while prices are somewhat still reasonable, although some prices are already spiking. It’s a matter of WHEN GSM kills Cold Steel not if they’ll kill Cold Steel.
