I was considering buying the SRK since I love my Recon Scout. I'm in the process of convexing the RS by hand. I realised however that there is already a convexed SRK made in VG10 so I bought that instead!
It's called a Fallkniven A1 and if it's even a tenth as good as my F1 it'll be money well spent.

I don't know about the new ones, but I have an old carbon V SRK that I have beaten up for years and love it.

My Carbon V SRK is a great knife. It's not as elegant as a Bark River but it gets the jobs done. I removed the black coating and it looks a helluvalot better.....but cuts better, I don't know. It's a great knife and the Carbon V is purportedly a lot better than the AUS8 cousin. You can still find Carbon V SRKs on Ebay from time to time.
