Cold Steel Trail Master Aficionados Thread

What kinda carry are you intending? Daily IWB, or just a good belt rig? Mike Sastre's southern comfort sheaths is the last word for an IWB kydex setup IMO. There are plenty of decent sheath makers around if you look in the Makers section.

TM's come up in the exchange with decent frequency. I'd check there.

Thanks for the direction Picksmith. Looking for a Kydex for molle attachment, however if i see the right leather sheath i will snag it. I have always loved leather. I can not beleive how crappy the San MAi sheath is. It's utter garbage.

I picked up a TM used a little while back and need some help with its composition and date of manufacture. Its not a san-mai III blade, is not black coated, is zero convex ground, It has a cordura sheath, it has a steel or nickel color hand guard and a brass lanyard hole. It is not stamped with the steel used or country of origin. I believe it is high carbon. It looks to be of very good quality. I think I either got one that was a short production run variant or maybe a counterfeit.

Any clues?

I know what the next question is: Do you have pics?
I don't as I'm deployed right now and don't have the knife with me. Maybe when I get back I'll snap some if we don't figure it out here soon.

Thanks!

Convex ground and not a SMIII knife... they only made one to the best of my knowledge, and the one I worked on had a stainless tube. Looks at the AUS8A knife in post #106.
