Cold Steel's Latest Announcement (Knock-Offs)

How many adults posted in this thread? Seems to me that a lot of children with hurt feelings like to whine! And for the remark of killing animals for sport... well i eat everything i kill unless it's a sick dog but i dont hold sport hunting against a sport hunter.Maybe i should whine about how much i hate peta freaks and liberals!
I just Googled "sport hunting". Until I did I was not aware it was a buzzword used to attack virtually all hunting. I don't see it as an insult to say someone is a hunter. I thought the implied allegations were more personal. I thought maybe was accused of violating fair chase principles with unsportsmanlike, unethical, or illegal methods. That's far more serious than saying someone cheats at cards or golf for example. That's why I asked for more information.

:eek:Say what now?

I think he was talkign about Lynn Thomposn who is an advid hunter, he has a nice prized colection of heads on his wall...Not sure if he eats all of the animal or just hunts for heads, but I can say that I know all the meat cut in his videos is cooked up on their big Bar-B-Q day where they have their sidewalk sale...So none of that meat is wasted...Not sure about the animals he hunts for though...But its not too fair to assume he just kills for sport, I know he hunts alot, but I do not know what he does with the meat? I would assume he eats it and give alot of it away to friends and family...?

I've met those CS guys at SHOT shows many times, they are bunch of arrgant dumb rednecks.

As far as they cry and bitch about "copies", they should first pay thier Chinese factories so their own contracted factory does not have to sell knockoff to survive. All they do is make cheap crap over there and never pays the factories. Now Lynn comes back and talk about "slave labor" this and that he sure is quick on the political game scheme.

He has a tendency to steal other's designs.
I hear that a lot but have never seen any examples. Can anyone provide any?

People also use blanket statements like: "Cold Steel produces crap knives," without giving any examples. When pressed they just clam up or vanish from the thread.

Cool, I thought the dogs ate well after a CS video shoot.

AFAS Cold Steel getting ripped off, I do think that it sucks, as this isn't some entertainment property like a CD or something, they only have their brand name to sell their stuff with, and if they get cranked, then they lose some dough and maybe some employees.

That said, CS has done very little to endear themselves to the Knife Knutts of the world.

Quote form Cold Steel about the above knives.... (Sounds like they admit its a copy of the Strider)

Please don’t throw away hundreds and hundreds of dollars on similar knives sold by convicted felons and rip off artists posing as elite “military operators”. Get the real G.I. Tanto from Cold Steel and get more than your money’s worth.

Counterfeiters suck, and I hope Cold Steel is successful at dishing out some payback.

But this is entirely too much drama:
This item like many others that originate in China was probably forcibly created from the regimes choice to enslave its population and produce slave labor products that are complete knock-offs of the real deal.
As if the enslaved population that makes counterfeits is completely different from the enslaved population that makes gunuine Cold Steel knives...

And as mentioned in an earlier post, I suspect that many counterfeit products are made by the exact same factories that make the 'real' products. Sold as "back door specials" to street vendors and small-time exporters.

Dealextreme has sold various counterfeit items over the years...well infact they had to change their company, it use to be fifthunit.com...It was popular over at candlepowerforums.com because they had a nice seletcion of cheaper flashliths and flashlight parts...when the cree LEDs came out they sold like hotcakes...still do...There was a thread a while ago about how they made a counterfeit surefire...Many of their lights are called "superfire" or "smartfire" but most common is "ultrafire" but one of their models had the surefire loco on it and sold for about a 8th of the price of a real one...it was frowned upon by the forum members as youc an imagine, they don't mind copies of flashlights, but a counterfeit is takign it too far in most peoples eyes...There was a thread about the counterfeit boker knife which I posted this picture to show the differences between the two, not even knowing the performance...thats a whole different story...

From what I was told foreign countries like China and Hong Kong (where dealextreme exports from) doe snot have the same copyright laws we have in the US, or at least they are not enforced...so counterfeits are a dime a dozen over there, but have been leaked into our country alot more these days...Or maybe not more, but to me I have seen them more because they pop up more in my hobbies, like knives, and Zippos...

China is part of the WTO but is not forced to follow rules due to no one want to upset the fragile economy of China too much is at stake, or in truth too much money at stake. What BS any how CS who copies other is bitching about another who doing the same...suck it up it is called free enterprise! If you are making money copying, another is going to do the same.

Amazin when I was at the sporting goods store and noticed a case of Rucko knives, almost everyone was a copy of a name brand knife. There was a look alike Buck 119 that I had to look at twice it was so close. I didn't ask to look at them but the prices was way cheap so China had to be where they came from.

I usually chalk those up as political statements by people who have a weed up their posterior about Cold Steel/Lynn Thompson for various reasons. They seldom prove true when put to the test. Take somebody like noss4, for example, who puts politics aside and bases his opinions of a given knife based soley upon it's merits and shortcomings. The CSs he's tested have been very impressive.
