Boy if those goat smell as bad alive as this horn did I don't blame you for shooting them. :D

At the risk of bringing kits wrath down on our heads for gettign OT, I'll just add they probably smell worse... Male goats piss all over themselves instead of being civilised and buying Eau De Cologne.
I hadn't thought of using goat horn for knife handles, maybe familarity does breed contempt, one of our breeding bucks is due to be culled after this mating season is over and he has plenty on his head :P

I wonder what you guys could do with Kanuka wood :) It's what I made my handles out of for Knife No 1. might be interesting to send off a chunk to be stabilised and see how it turns out.

What does the wood look like?? Send in pic of knife No. 1. The goat's horn do look nice all polished up. I put the horn in B72 and acetone for a month and it still stunk, it probably seal in the aroma. :barf: :D
I would use it again, because it cover the smell of some of the guys that come over to my shop. HEHEHE!!! ;)

You boys done good! Does the horn still smell, after being finished out on the knife  I'd hate to be chasing a bear through the woods, knowing that he was outrunning me because he could smell my knife :D

You guys are sick, I would never harm an animal.........yeah right!

Yep, that's the son of a b*tch that broke my thumb (long story). I still wear the sister horn/knife to every show. You did a great job on the knife George. I appreciate you mentioning my name even though I did no work on the knife (just the goat). I always love seeing what you come up with. Is that going to be a keep or a seller? I'd love to see it some time.

I would like to keep it but if some one gives me the $$ I want, you know how the story goes. J. could you post pick of your I would like to compare the color of the horn. :D The price just went up got more history to it now. Got to get a good name for it. How about J. Breaker????HEHEHE!!!! :D :D

Oh, the green thing between the horn and guard, that look super. What is it?

Though the copper gets along better with this horn IMHO.

:) Kanuka is a striaght grained fast growing wood that works and acts like a hardwood but is classified as a softwood. About as mallable and easy to work as oak is but with a more golden colour. I haven't made a photo box to take a nice photo of the finished blade with my 7.2 Mp cam, but I do have a scanned pic taken while it was still soakign up linseed oil. now it's finished and cured and rubbed with beeswax to seal and shine it and provide a better grip than plain linseed finish, it's a nice rich dark colour reminiscent of dark mahogany. It's quite resistant to dings and chips. I have plenty of copies of that scanned pic around the forum, but heres another :D

If you want to get rid of the smell of goat, what you can do is take soem asorbant kitty litter and crush it to a finer, near powder state and leave the horn in that for a while, the Kitty litter will soak up the smell and they generally have an odour buster included in their makeup to deoderise your cats leavings ;) It works for billy goat hides :D

Thanks for sharing nice little knife and cool looking wood.
Cool trick with the Kitty Litter and I'll have to try that on a couple of dudes that come over here too. HEHEHEHE!!!! ;) :D

The green throat is stabilized (& dyed green) Box Elder Burl wood and the hardware is bronze (didn't want to have to polish it constantly).

I hope you can get kitty litter by the ton then :P I know some reather strong smelling guys :D

George and J.,those look great! We can call you and J. the goat busters. That's a good end for a trouble making goat.

He made good jerky, too. He visited a few shows and made a few new friends that way. Can't imagine why Tess called him Rocky.
:D
