Collaboration J. & I.G.

hey... don't you 2 have some more knives to make! :D :p
very nice knife also J. i like it!

Heck yeah, Joe. I've got four more horns. I set an in-law up with some goats since he's lactose challenged. One goat got a bit rough and he chopped the horns off of both. One set is only about a foot, the other is about 2 1/2'.

Eddie is 41" tip to tip, has to turn his head sideways to get through the gates at the sheds cause a lot of them are 30" :P I wouldn't like to make a knife that would need an entire horn for a handle, that would take Conan the Barb to weild that chopper :)

how rough did the goats get? We tend to dehorn the kids at 3 weeks or less with caustic paste, but theres 2 goats out there with full horns, plus the 3 billies.

Oh yeah... and the little billies don't like you makign them wethers :P but the supplies of mountain oysters gives us something to try to feed silly city slickers come out to visit... "Do try some of these mountain oysters jim, they're a regional speciality"

Does anyone read terry pratchett? :D remember what he has to say on regional specialities:D

Who is Terry Pratchett???
nothing to do with knives, unless he's makign sarcastic references to wannabe barbarians. He's an english comedy writer, author of the "Discworld" books where a flat world, held up by four elephants is carried through space on the back of a giant turtle... oh, yes theres also magic :) Its well worth your time to get a copy of a few of his books :P

Thanks for sharing. :D But if the books doesn't have anything to do with sharp things, guns or American Made Motorcycles I can understand them.  :D

Hey Kiwi303, can you suggest some titles? I read a lot (only 3 channels up here) and I'm always looking for a new author. Dave sent me some cool stuff last year that I enjoyed and hey, for me...fantasy can't beat reality when I'm trying to relax.

Here we go getting off topic again... :D But literature is the soul of ... ... well, I like it. I hate to think what my life would be like without SF...boring! I may not have read Terry Pratchett (English humor escapes me) but at least I recognize his name. :D IG I'll trade you a short course in science fiction for a long course in damascus - how bout it? :D I can turn you onto some books that'll blow you away.

Anyone who hasn't read Time Enough for Love by Robert Heinlein better just go get it now. I don't think there's anyone on this forum who wouldn't agree with Heinlein's political bent. To paraphrase, "Whenever a planet requires ID it's time to find another planet."

Titles... Hmm... pk, lets keep this on topic (barely) you reccommend some good knife making books that are likely to be in the local library and I'll reccomend good fiction :P

I like the complete rincewind books by Pratchett, they start with either "the colour of magic" or "the light fantastic" (poking fun at tourists and barbarians), and goes on poking fun at Fuast (can't remember the books name, it's a short one and the comic strip version book is better), "Interesting times" (poking fun at the chinese) The last continent (poking fun at the Aussies). the watch series start with Guards Guards, but IMHO it's the later watch books I like better, "Jingo" and "The Fifth Elephant". There are a number of stand alone books like "Maurice and his incredible educated rodents" with a talkign cat :) (poking fun at the rat piper legend) "good omens is a ripper spoof of the acalypse. "Thief of time" plays with other legends you can guess from the title which ones. Very complex british humour. better than Piers Anthony and his Xanth series puns :P
As to Heinlein, I loved "The moon is a harsh mistress" but for SF, I'd recommend you check out C J Cherryth. especially the alliance/union wars and the Chanur books.

3 channels? we get 2. way out in the boondocks with at least one power cut a week :P which means my forge will be going the non-electric blower way once i get around to makign one :P having the blower cut out could be rather annoying :x
