Hi, I never started a collection because I have nobody to pass it to I bit the bullet and finally started one. But I am curious what are you going to do with you knives when you can no longer collect

Leave em for the heirs to put in a garage sale for a dime apiece.

As if when I die? I actually have a few specific knives in my will, the rest will be distributed between friends and family at my wife's discretion. I don't worry about that, you can't take them with you and I just enjoy collecting, using, and tinkering with my knives while I am here:)

I accumulate knives, but really don't collect knives. Some are fairly valuable if you call $1000 valuable. I really don't care what happens to my knives after I die. They can go to the scrap yard or landfill. Hopefully, those who might be interested would keep them from going to the landfill or scrap yard. My knives are for me, not some relation.

They will accompany in my burning ship to valhalla.

No idk, I'm 20. If i died right now I suppose some would go to brothers, dad, grandpa, maybe a friend or two. If I go that path later, Ill just give all but one away to kids etc once I'm too old to really need one.

The plan is to leave them to my kids. But if it looks like I'm going to be killed by zombies I'll leave one in each zombie till I run out! I suppose if I had had no one to leave them to, I'd find a way to donate them, or the proceeds from selling them would probably be the best.

They'll be in my bomb shelter with all the MRE's and glow stix I've amassed just in case.

Of coarse my Grandchildren will figure out how to get them and make a B-Line to the Pawn shop.

Thanks for your insight, I have a small militaria collection, not worth much but still I would want it to go to somebody who would appreciate it not to the salvation army. We have no children I don't have much to do with my family and my wifes is quite small. I never thought it was for just me but I guess that is what a collection is

I am sure most of you have seen the saying that "my biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell all my guns for what I told her they cost"

That is my fear on my knives and my knives!

I am gonna first get a collection :p and then I will have them "cremated" with me and then forged into one super knife that has me as a part of it.

Just kidding that would be weird, but if I ever have a kid I will give them the collection.

I like where you're going with this but mine will go to the kids, if they want them, maybe any buddies that will outlive me.

In the unlikely event that I outlive those that care I'll sell it all ( may take my favorite to the grave with me clipped to those creepy half suits they stick the cadavers into- they have to have front pockets anyway-right )and donate the proceeds to a youth hunt and hunters training program or something else I feel would be worthwhile.

Seems like the highest form of materialism is to be concerned about what will happen to your stuff when you're dead.
