Colt slip-joints

Funny this posting came about as I was just looking at a colt canoe in a similar bone as the dog leg and gunstock. They look to be nice knives. I kinda like the "c" on the bolster and I like the bear paw/claw on the gunstock. If I wind up getting one of the canoes I drop a line on it here.

4 5/8" LB, same as in earlier post but with wood scales checkered:

Let's limit images and discussion in this sub-forum to the traditional patterns, thank you.

Blues, a prevbious poster asked about "Colts". i bet most "Traditionalists" have at least one of the more "modern" stainless steel frame knife, but o.k. no more of those posted here.
what about Lockbacks ? are they "Traditional" ?

Very good pix as usual Roland, thank you.
I like the look of that Swell End/Teardrop, how goes the snap?
Thanks, W

Snap on all these is just right for me. fairly easy to open,(but definitely not wimpy) and a satisfying 'snap' sound both opening and closing. all blades have zero blade play.
good looking, and sharp too. pretty hard to beat for av. price of less than $20 including shipping.

Right:thumbup:
I need an economy Xmas present this year as expenses have been big, this suits me I reckon.

That Whittler's interesting in how they did it. I've had Whittlers that are slightly wider at the 2 blade end, but I don't think I've ever seen it done like on that one. Very nice.

Just spent $13 (delivered) for this 3 1/4" Colt Barlow with Stag handles:

Ridiculous price ! It's a very nice knife and shaving sharp.

Very nice Barlow & yes, the prices are incredible. I'm not sure if I've heard about a bad one of theirs. I'm not 100% sure, but I think their steel is 440A. Not great, but it's easy to sharpen &, for me, about on par with Case's Tru-Sharp. Maybe not quite as good, but close.

I don't know what the steel is. Probably the same as Rough Riders, which i have used and they hold their razor sharp edge well. Pretty much like the Case Stainless as you say, which is all most of us really need.
These knives do make good users and their quality control is exceptionally good.

I am not convinced the Colts are coming out of the same factory as the RR, after all there are quite a few knife factories in China. The quality is better than the high end RR's, the steel is better, at least it has been in my experience with both. The patterns are subtly different and the grinds on the Colts are much better.

I have a dozen or so of the Colts and I think they rival many US made knives.
