Colt slip-joints

I recieved a colt sowbelly from a fellow forum member. I cant believe how good it is. 0 blade play, cam ends on all blades flush, match strike nicks perfect, stamped tang stamps and perfect pull. All for 20.00. I looked thru some of my factory slipjoints maybe 50 0r 60 knives that were say less than 10years old. This knife i own know is better than anything excluding the bose collaboration. I am ordering one of each today hoping its not a fluke.

High praise indeed. Maybe they aren't made by Rough Riders.

I have been very happy with the dozen or so I have bought. It is not a case of better workers but rather an example of what up to date machinery can do in part. The factories in China are likely using state of the art computer driven equipment which means a lot of the mistakes made when doing this work by hand don't happen. Are there still junky knives coming out of China and other countries? Of course there is, but when I look at the Colts and then look even harder at my AG Russells I am amazed at what modern manufacturing and yes, pride can do. I don't know who did the design work for the Brown Stag line of Colt's but the old school styling and swedges are outstanding!

And when you add in some good old fashioned American handwork the combo is wonderful.

as members are aware i'm mostly a gec man but that "jelly bone" is incredible. i'm not changing direction but i sure do'nt mind looking at these chinese products.thanks dennis

I'm so very impressed my Colt Canoe. For $20 I got knife that could beat some of my Case's in terms of F&F and blade ground. Impressed.

ordered a black bone canoe today. i will report on the f,f& workability after i rec. the knife. it was under $20 shipped to baltimore. due to the economy i had to take a job at about half of my usual salary. hopefully these colts and rough riders will help me with my newly discovered slippie habit. with these knives i can try out and collect many different patterns at about $10-$20 a week. at 42k/year i cant afford to do that with case. then once or twice a year i can make a purchase of usa knives based on how i liked the style(style only, keep in mind. not quality of steel etc.)
