Can't really say as it is often pattern determined.

Stag when it's good has stellar ageing capacity and is tougher than bone, resists dropping better and can expand with wet or dry very well.

Not so horn which is probably the stuff I have soft spot for but it is tricky here in ultra dry winters. Beautiful to look at. Ram's Horn can be really astounding gear and stable.

Bone can look very beautiful with use but it has its fragilities. Both Jigged and Smooth are wonderful.

Gone off wood a bit, it often loses its colour and grain, most ends up dark brown or black rather soon. It's tough mind. I do admire Juniper though as its scent is enchanting.

I'm unabashed in liking Micarta, I find it has strength and character, prefer it polished though.

Delrin & Acrylics are also worthy.

What I dislike is MOP or MOT, so fragile and just repelled by the look, that Snail Shell stuff, gaudy. Won't have Elephant Ivory due to ethical reasons and it's ridiculously prone to cracking so what's the point? None.

All this shows the huge strength of Traditionals, what a wealth of choice what a palette of beauty :thumbsup:

Here's some Himalayan Ram's Horn, I don't know about 'comfy' but grippy it is, even more so pile side.

Lol poor waynorth waynorth seemed shocked by my admission I've never had a stag knife.

I DID order a boker barlow one time but there was sooo much blade play and gaps I sent it back, but they didn't have a replacement to send me, so I got credit for something else. It was rather disappointing.

Also in that example the stag was really really lopsided. One side was really really skinny , the other was rather fat. So I got to fiddle with it for a couple hours and sent it back

Woe is me, and my bank account, this thread and your photos. It is going to cost me!
I like them all, like many here it does depend on the knife, the cover and it's appeal to me. Don't have a favorite.
I liked the TB/Case tribal spear, the abalone was a plus.

I liked the Buck 110 'take-a-part' knife . the ironwood was a plus.

I liked the A Wright Senator lambfoot, the stag and Damascus was a plus.

I liked the GEC 14 TC, the smooth bone was a plus.

For uniqueness I liked the scrimshawed Buck 315 with swordfishbill covers and the Buck 110 with PCB covers.

I am a bit confused by the tile, Comfy covers, which I understand meaning which handle material is most comfortable to use but then the actual question is about favourite, not most comfy.

I always found the synthetic handles on Casexx knives to have a very nice feel, though they are not my favourite material looks-wise.

I like all, whether it is a nice colourful acrylic, knurly stag, a nicely died bone or a wood with character. I do not favour one over the others, but go by what each individual model looks like.

I voted stag. I like that really no two stags are the same. I'm also a hunter, so that may make me partial to stag over others. Bone would have to be a second favorite for me.

I grew up using knives with Delrin covers. I didn't own a knife with bone covers until I started hanging out here.
I still like synthetic for my working knives,

I like elk for something fancy

But I think my favorite is ebony

Good jigged bone is very hard to beat. Queen's amber carved bone stag is probably my favorite cover material, but the prices have really skyrocketed, and I unfortunately somehow lost my #06L. Wood second, although I'd take nicely figured hardwood over most jigged bone.

Besotted by that American Elk Stainless Owl 😻

Tell you what, I'll trade you a Modern in Yellow Synth ;)🙃 can even throw in a Delrin beater too😇

Those two are powerfully persuasive arguments, always liked Black Box Winchesters for that and other reasons.

Thanks, Will
Thank you sir! No doubt. This stockman has heightened my awareness and has my spidey senses tuned up and hunting for other Black Box versions that are to my liking 👍🏼😎.

I love stag; if it is good stag. With some character, NOT FAT but not skimpy or super plain. Color matter too and it should be natural NOT burnt stag. Bone is second, either smooth or nicely jigged and wood brings up third.

Cast my vote for synthetic but I have to specify. Micarta. Looks old-timey and classic and wears well with age, but extremely durable and practically indestructible. Can get wet, virtually insusceptible to chemicals, and can be easily cleaned with whatever method you like without worrying about hurting it. All important factors since I like to use my knives on the job in the trades.
