'cause it's not too hot for that 😆

I bought material back to the house to use the bandsaw in the basement and prep for some layout. Too hot for the shop. But I did fire up the new lathe yesterday and learned some very basic things.
i have a bunch of references if you're interested - i'm not a master by any means, but there's some cool tools that are not obvious potentially (ie: rockler doesn't carry them)...

SKEWS https://www.google.com/search?q=Alan+Lancer+lathe+skew

also check out pantorouter!

Several houses in my neighborhood have mature honey locust trees. Their pods get everywhere and nobody ever attempts to pick them up. What an eyesore!
honey locust pods are claimed to be edible at least, many uses?!

When he cut off the top most section of the trunk, this happened, haha:

that was the fellers mistake, typically they get them to land flat, so, perhaps he doesn't gethigh marks on that one?

Todays tinkering was crutches. I have 2 pairs one set 5'10" is max. The other 5'10" is the minimum I took them apart and built up the bigger ones to fit me. Can you tell I'm bored 🥴
i was on crutches for a fewish days just a bit ago, very bad foot sprain, and then the evil toe flared up, couldn't bear weight...

found this thing called an iWalk 3.0, it's like a peg leg pirate thing, vibram sole even. pretty keen. has to be worn properly (TIGHT), and ideally with some kind of knee wrap or it can chafe your skin off in short order (ask me how i know :>)

this is bad ass

I have a bush hog deck, rotary plow and a snow blade for it. I also have an Italian made 2 wheel tractor Grillo G85D with a tiller and a Zanon mower deck

Same machine with different attachments

I ended up using a knee scooter most of the time

Bladite lives!
Yes, I need a better skew. Got a basic set of chisels, figure I'll tune 'em to my needs. Learning how to ruin wood...

Dubz, a new knife will definitely help. ;)

yeah, been around. knife life not so big these days, downsizing even... 3D printing, electronic music, PEVs, and generally just coasting along :D

i scored a bunch of stuff at a good buy, so between old carbon stuff, and new skews in super steels, and carbides (as Vik points out)...

just gotta get off my ass and make things more... "magic wands" are popular with friends kids. my lathe a biggun, so i'm thinking walking sticks, canes? i want to experiment with off angle and weird shit - i scored a mostly complete addon to allow for ornamental turning (also has an index wheel), need to get some cutters for that

Magic wands! Me too, accidentally. The magic is in you, the wand is just a conduit. :D

I'll consider one or more carbide tooth(?) tools when I decide to invest some more. My tools are a bit large for most of what I'm wanting to do, but probably the right size for the tool handles I got the lathe to make.
