Compact-ASH...

I know the idea of a compact ASH might not gain the traction I had hoped, But I will still try and keep the hope alive! *bump*

.... both parts... ;)

As an experiment, take an ASH you are fostering ;) place it in a locked cabinet and mark its location on the shelf, check it the next day...it WILL have moved a little south.... they are always slowly making their way home... ;) ;) :D

Andy, why do you think people put lanyards on knives? A lanyard is a leash for your knife! So, if you put a leash on your ASH to keep her from leaving, what does one to do keep a Mistress from running away?

You might want to consider the BATAC LE, if you can find one. 5" blade as opposed to the 6.5" of the ASH, 0.25" thick, blade width at 1.5" as opposed to the 1.75-1.875 of the ASH and blade profile very similar to the ASH. Great knife, though I wish it came with magnum scales. Perhaps it does, though I've not seen one.

Not a bad suggestion, the blade profile does look really similar but from the choil back looks more like a ratmandu. I know Busse makes/has made a number of knives in this size, I think for me i just love the shape of the ASH so much, I'd love a smaller version for more everyday carry! Something with a 4.5" blade that cannabalizes the choil for handle and blade. The SOB is the closest I have seen recently, I just prefer the ASH aesthetics (handle shape/contouring/pattern/blade shape etc etc)

For me there's a world of difference between the BATAC and the ASH-1. I had two BATACs and could never quite get on with the handle. There is a magnum of sorts on the BATAC-LE. Unlike others magnums though, on the BATAC it's just thicker; still flat-sided with no more contouring than the thinner version.

The ASH-1 is completely the opposite. The instant I first held it, I knew it was a keeper. The handle just locks into my hand as if it was custom made for me. Completely personal, of course, but I think the handle is the most important part of the knife and the ASH-1 is perfect.

The original Badger Attack (SHBA) is the answer here IMO, in lieu of what you are asking for. That's a knife I've always wanted to try but I never got my hands on one. I think it would be a keeper the same way the ASH-1 is. I did have a BA-3 which was gorgeous in snakeskin, but the handle is different and was just not quite there for me.

My top three 'wanted' knives that I never got are, in order, FBM-LE, SHBA and NMFSH-LE. One day, when I win the lottery...

After seeing the mini-vex drop today I realized they were listening but got the knife wrong!!! That said I really like the vex design as well, maybe
Make the mini ash the next to get the shrink down treatment!

First a mini-vex then a mega sized ASH, now a mini sized Team Gemini.....just saying a compact ASH would be a fantastic add to all these sprint runs, especially with all of the various up and down sized variants already released!

Jerry made a post long, long ago about some micro steel hearts hiding in the shop somewhere.

And maybe Skunker will stop by and post a pic of his Sweetheart... A mini steel heart about the size of a SHBA.

Good luck !!!! :D
