I agree with you, in this case it's better to just do it yourself than send it back. That phrase is just one of my many pet peeves.

I've had knives(not Busse) come with
FLAT spots on the edge and had them tell me to sharpen it myself,, I would have to sharpen it sooner or later. Any ideas how long it takes to reprofile a knife with sandpaper. I shipped a sword to a guy on the east coast to sharpen it, because I didn't want to invest that much time in it.
