Company Store: Factory Seconds?

Just me Solstice, but spouting off about a Dozier and hopeing it doesn't let him down doesn't help the man and probably won't earn you alot of points with anyone. Dozier makes some of the finest hard-working, edge-holding knives around, and they definatly rank up with the likes of Busse products anyday.

Just my .$02

And yes, I own more Busse then Dozier myself. Just saying its never good to put another down to bring yourself up...

I am sure that Dozier makes great knives and has great designs. I too like alot of Dozier's stuff. Kevral would most likely do fine with a Dozier for his hunting needs and probably has already done so in the past. I think Solstice is just a bit overzealous about INFI because he has been breathing too much INFI dust.

Ban, I didn't say I didn't know how to sharpen. I just don't like to and I shouldn't have to on a new knife. As I said I'm not saying any of my Busse knives came dull, but I have had a fair amount of expensive knives come dull and I always hear the response, "Well, you'll have to sharpen it eventually, so it doesn't matter" It just bugs me is all. In this case, I would sharpen it myself, rather than ship it back to the US.

Ted,

I already know that you know how to keep your stuff sharp based on what I have seen ;)

I agree that it should have came sharp from the factory. But in this case it didn't and he was a long ways away and needed to use the knife soon.

I didn't mean for it to come across as "Hell it is gonna get dull anyway so just go ahead and sharpen it yourself" or "Oh well you got a dull knife so just sharpen it" type of response.

Based on the circumstances, I was just encouraging the user to sharpen it to avoid the hassle.

Now repeat after me!!!! Sharpening is FUN! Sharpening is FUN! :p

I agree with you, in this case it's better to just do it yourself than send it back. That phrase is just one of my many pet peeves.:D I've had knives(not Busse) come with FLAT spots on the edge and had them tell me to sharpen it myself,, I would have to sharpen it sooner or later. Any ideas how long it takes to reprofile a knife with sandpaper. I shipped a sword to a guy on the east coast to sharpen it, because I didn't want to invest that much time in it.

Deep breath.....

I love to sharpen, it's so fun...
I love to sharpen, it's so fun...
I love to sharpen, it's so fun...
I love to sharpen, it's so fun...
I love to sharpen, it's so fun...
I love to sharpen, it's so fun...
I love to sharpen, it's so fun...
I love to sharpen, it's so fun...
I love to sharpen, it's so fun...
I love to sharpen, it's so fun...

Hmmm, not helping. ;) Oh well, I tried.:)

My condolences on the blunt tip.

I'm wondering if Jerry's WD-40 tip worked at all?

Everyone makes a mistake sooner or later, but what really counts is what they do after the mistake is made.

Busse and Skunk are both class acts, and I'm sure that everything will be made right, one way or another.

BTW: for hunting, can't you get away with a blunt tip? It'd mean that you would have to slice into the skin, instead of stab it, but once you are inside, I spend most of my time worrying about the tip nicking something I don't want it to hit.
A blunt tip may be the wave of the future!
I'm partially kidding . . . just trying to make lemonade as Ban did before!

EDIT: UNLESS you are hunting something with your knife! Then you wouldn't need a sharp tip, b/c if you're going after, say boar, with a GW you're probably man enough to bring the animal down by stabbing it with your finger, and clean it with your teeth.

I have a GW Lep that is not ground well on one side of the blade by the choil. Suprised it made it through inspection. The handles are finished better than the other Lep I have though. Guess I should send it back in for some TLC.
