completely deactivate the possibility of receiving Friend Requests?

So, I have received the notification, but no email (I must say, I have never received any email also for the other requests, although the option is selected as default).
Once clicked on the notification I was brought to the page of the friend requests where no request was present.
The notification disappeared automatically once clicked on it.
I did not test if it would disappear just by opening the cascade menu but not clicking on the showed notification.

So. Ignoring does not solve the problem.
I suppose the Limbo is really the only way out.

Hello,

All you have to do is refuse the friend request, check the box, and you don't really have to answer that person why you did that.

You can be polite and answer them if you feel like doing that or you can just 'check the box' easily.

You can turn your email ON and OFF easily here too.

You can turn your public message thing ON and OFF too.

The friend thing does show all of the posts that the friend posts (?) from what I could tell in the past when I had some on my list. (I removed them all for now.)

Now, if the person makes many posts - that may fill up your one section and if you have many people on your friend list - it may not be convenient for you.

It depends on the individual person using the forum and how they like to read and/or reply on the forum.

I don't think it is wrong or rude to decline a friend request or to add/remove someone from your list. It may make it easier for THEM, not only you, to read the forum if you post and reply a lot on this forum.

I have two people on this BF forum that I like, respect and know very well.

One person is a very smart, kind, and old gun friend who is VERY well known in the shooting world. He has been published. He has worked for some well known companies. He is well known on the WWWeb too. He was very kind to me from the 90's and on when it came to me being a Newbie at the time in the shooting sports and in MY self defense shooting. (Other people were kind to me too.) His family, as it turned out, knew my late husband's family from my late husband's home state. It IS a small world! He is a GOOD man, generous with his time and explanations and extremely smart.

Another close friend who I came to know ON this BF forum is a lady that I like and respect greatly. We have MANY mutual interests, not only in KNIVES, and we think a lot alike. We live in different countries and that does not bother our friendship at all.

We may have different opinions in some matters but I have not seen them yet and, if we do at any time, we can still be friends. Both of us are blunt and open type of ladies too.

I would not leave anyone in limbo - I would just delete them again. It is not complicated to do. It takes a few seconds. Plus if you do not want a lot of posts from the friend thing in the one section - just remove all friends and/or keep only one of them. I removed mine and no one took offense.

Best wishes to you.

Cate

You don't say? And if this person REPEATEDLY keeps sending them?...
I think we all know how this works. The problem is some people are more persistent than others. These people get to hang out never getting an answer, in my world. YMMV.

Hey, whatever works for you.

If someone is harassing another via PM, or otherwise, report it to a supermod that can do something about it. People can ignore what they like, as Spark said, this place is not designed to be a hugbox, it's a discussion forum that involves knives and gear. If people are unable to grasp that then maybe they need a new hobby. I hear Crochet is going to be pretty hot this Winter. ;)
