Bought my two boys their first knives for when they turn 7,,, Noa will be 7 next month and Beau's only 14 months yet,,, these are Opinel knives specially designed for young children,,, sharp,but no pointy tip,,, hopefully I wont be saying,,,seemed like a good plan at the time,,, in the near future

Sounds like a good time to make friends with the neighbors who can help watch out for her. Also, most cops I know have a soft spot for little old ladies. Have her introduce herself to the local boys and ask if they can give a little extra patrol. I wouldn't mind helping out in a similar situation
and get Mom some range time with an AR.
