Computer Generated Decoration Patterns

Ooops...I seemed to have missed that! Too excited looking at the pictures...

I think for me Id rather pay the extra and get a one of a kind.

Would like to clarify the cost of these models. Do decorated Sebenzas like the above still cost $390 (small) and $425 (large)? To quote James, "These will sell for $30 less than "unique" decoration patterns." Please tell me how much extra "unique" patterns cost compared to the normal decorated ones?

I understood the Fly pattern has been done by computer for a long time and I don't think this means that Fly Decorated Sebenzas sell for $30 less. I believe it means that more $390 and $425 decorated patterns are available. Is this correct?

I just went over the the Chris Reeve site and read the description of the "Fly" series. It hints at the future appearance of standard computer-generated patterns, but says that each "fly" is a little different because of the coloration techniques. I didn't see separate pricing information on them, apart from the price of a decorated Sebenzas and Umfaans in general.

A large decorated Sebenza is $425, with a one-of-a-kind pattern. With one of the new computer-generated patterns, including the one that is similar to the "Fly" pattern, it's $395. An existing "Fly" pattern in circulation now should, I would think, not lose much if any value, considering that it's out there now and not some months from now.

Unique patterns and normal decorated models are the same. When James said unique he was referring to the normal decorated patterns, as the normal decorated patterns are all unique, except the fly. Thirty dollars less would most likely mean $360 and $395 for these computer generated models.

As for the fly, it looks like it's price has been reduced by 30 dollars. Maybe Matt or Anne could verify this?

I've resisted these all this time (less than a week) and finally gave in!

Talked to Anne today and ordered the "solar Wind".
She tells me the dominant color is blue with gold stars. Sold me

Anticipation may now struggle with patience!

Thom, if you don't mind me asking...what was the ETA on your Solar Wind? I am wondering if these computer controlled decorated ones will take less time than the one of a kinds.

Thanks!

At this time Anne could not give me an ETA.
Took my order and said she would contact me before it is made.

One big plus; A matched set of large and small will really confuse your wives

I've been dreaming about getting a Sebenza for a year now, but haven't had the pocket change to pick one up. Now that my father is retiring, though, I think I can justify the expense as a fantastic retirement gift.

The new Sebenza designs are great! I'm split between the sense of cosmic expanse of Solar Wind, and the graceful yet bold curve of High Circle.

Another consideration (off topic) is the beautiful wood-inlaid Sebenza.

How about this for sticker shock? I have one of each design in each size on order. That's 21 knives! I sure hope they don't all come in at once.

It's going to be tough breaking up the set when they start selling.

I did not realize that the patterns were available on the Umfaan. Now I am in even deeper trouble!
