Concealed Carry Gun Holsters - suggestions?

I'm picking up a Springfield XDm 3.8" Compact 9mm around the end of the month and applying for my CCW permit.

I've looked around and have had crossbreed and minotaur (MTAC) and cross tuck (?) Comp Tac maybe...suggested to me.

For those of you who carry, what type of sheaths do you find the most useful? There are a lot of kydex options, but I hear people complaining of their guns getting scratched. I don't really care that much, but if I know something is most likely to jack something up I'd probably get something that didn't.

I will most likely carry anywhere from 3 - 5 depending on the weather and what I'm doing. I will also have grab a ccw attachment to use in various MaxPed bags I have.

Anyways, if you've got any suggestions I'd appreciate it. Also information as to why leather or kydex would be more beneficial. I kind of like the hybrid leather/kydex IWB ones with a combat cut....like the MTAC.

I carried the Serpa fpr a while before Tim Wegner coaxed me into trying BladeTech's model. I've been using it ever since for my Glock. Don't ask me the model # because I don;t know. I can take a pic though.....tomorrow. Im drinking Scotch tonight and don't want to shoot myself.

I carry a Glock 27 more than anything with a Comp Tac Infidel IWB. Love it. It's way more comfortable than you would expect out of kydex.

Here's a pic.

Agreed. Both are very good holster manufacturers

Comp tac super tuck, cross bread, all killer.....

check it out though, for like $25 you can get a 'Mr. Softy' and its one fine holster, super comfortable and can be worn in any position..

I also use the blade tech as for my M&P 9c and glocks. No leather to deal with, its comfortable and priced right. If I were to carry something heavier like one of my 1911s I would go crossbreed or Milt Sparks summer special 2 if you're willing to wait a while to get a quality made leather holster.

I work a plain clothes assignment, so I'm wearing a 1911 40 hours a week plus off-duty carry. Basically, I'm carrying every waking minute. I've used the Milt Sparks VM-2 for years. I also have a double mag carrier, Surefire 6P carrier, cuff carrier, and double thick gun belt, all from Milt Sparks.

This holster is the cadillac of holsters. There is a 6 month wait and they only take order for the first few days of each month. The wait is worth it. The belt loops can be removed and changed to fit different belt widths and can be had in horse hide or cow hide.

Get something for the short term and then get your order in with Milt Sparks. You won't regret it.

I carry my Glocks (19&26) in a Shielded Holsters IWB. A guy that goes by the handle "kwart" on Glock Talk makes them. They are really nice and cost effective ($50). He also makes OWB all Kydex holsters as well.

EDIT: Here's a link to the thread for the Shielded Holsters. I can't recommend them enough. I'm going to order myself an all Kydex OWB soon for my G19.

I am currently on my second Crossbreed (due to buying a new carry gun) Both of mine have worked pretty good, even with now carrying a full size 1911. I carry mine between 3-5 as well. I have been wanting to get a hold of a Milt Sparks VM-2 as coldboreshot suggests. I have heard nothing but great review for this product from multiple souces.

I use Kholsters. Basically a more affordable version of the Crossbreed Supertuck. I've used both, and I prefer the Kholster for it's price and greater range of adjustment.

I picked this Galco up at a garage sale.

As I driving away I thought I need another holster like I need a hole in my head. I have a drawer full at home I never use already.

It became my favorite holster the first time I put it on.

Galaco Triton is the name.

Oh, and I carry Glocks and never have had an issue with kydex scratching the gun. Your milage may vary with other guns :)

I use a Brigade M-11 holster:

It will take a while to get it though so you'll have to be patient. When I ordered mine, the published wait was 22 weeks. It was almost a year before I got it.

But, I can honestly say the wait was worth it. The leather work is superb and the quality is outstanding. It fits my Star Firestar Plus perfectly and with the proper belt, it feels like I'm not carrying anything.

Another vote for the Sparks VM-2. If it is in your price range and you can find one I feel it is the best IWB out there. This comes after having tried various configurations from Kramer, Galco, Bianchi, Safariland, Sidearmor, Bladetech, Comptac, and so many more my wallet hurts just thinking about it.

You didn't specify in your post how you want to carry (inside the waist, outside the waist, small of back, cross draw, etc.), but the options you listed are all IWB so I suggested the Sparks.

Desantis intruder is what I carry my G26,G19 in. I carry at 4-5 and it hides under a tshirt it's less money than the Minotaur and IMO has a better fit n finish. I've bought 10 or so holsters before I settled on one of the crossbreed like designs. It takes a week to break in but afterwards you'll be happy you got it

I've used a Blade-Tech IWB for my 45 acp service xd for about 3 years. I've recently picked up a Blade-Tech Razor and can not be more happy. It really makes a big difference especially since I've teamed it up with a proper Blade-Tech Looper belt.

Take a look at some of these and let me know if you have any questions.

I can tell you which one it is when you post the pics...I think I might know a thing or 2 about them now ;)
