so sad they discontinued this marvelous knife, truly ahead of its time
not even the TDI comes close as far as forward-slanted knives goes
I agree. Since the Desperado's demise, probably the closest I've seen to its footprint is the SLCC series.
But the Striders aren't close to the size of the Desperado, and they lack its finesse. They're just a BIT more money, too!
But hard for me to justify strapping on a fixed blade when I have this guy:

6" folding kukri with a lock that comes as close as possible to fixed blade strength.
Looks like others agree with you, oxman.
Personally, if I'm going to rely solely on a folder, even a big boy like the Rajah, I'd rather have it in a rapid-deployment belt sheath, like some of these.
I know that some people, including Lynn Thompson, like the inside-the-waistband concealment for large folders, as demonstrated here in these photos from Oso Grande.
For me, this location is slow and awkward. Note the repositioning of the grip in the pictures above--another trait of this draw that I don't like. Admittedly, I haven't done a lot of practicing with it, and I have to acknowledge that it is an extremely discrete method of carry.
Not a Cold Steel, but today I've decided to give open carry a try.
Going back to concealed carry, I guess!
Interesting experiment, Peacent! I'm not sure what your laws are like there, but I'm guessing that your return to concealed carry will prove less disruptive to your lifestyle. Open carry here in the States, no matter how well accepted, still never fails to draw unwanted attention.
Sunrise River custom knives sheath, unless my eyes deceive me...
Thanks, Bigfattyt! I like to give credit where it's due, as well as supply future customers to the skilled makers whose work appears in these pictures.
