Condor 2013 line

First post here(though I've come here a lot whenever I was interested in a particular blade and wanted to read other people's thoughts on it)...the Crocodilian, Matagi, and Speed Machete are definites for me. I like the Bushcraft Parang too, but since I just got a Village Parang, it's a little lower priority for me. I'd also like the Discord, but the price will probably be a little higher than I want. Everytime I've looked at one of Condor's micarta handled blades(and I want a lot of them), I end up passing in favor of one of their lower priced blades. I have no doubt I'll eventually get one(tax returns will be coming in soon...) but since I only discovered Condor's products late last year, I've got a lot of catching up to do(so far I've only got the Golok, Village Parang, Barong, Thai Enep knife, Kukri machete, Dundee Bowie, and Bush Knife, with the Thunderhead machete in the mail)

You're gonna' love that Bush Knife. I've put tons of miles on mine in the many years I've had it--mine is old enough that it has the old blue handle without a lanyard hole! :D

Well, truth be told, most of it's use will just be backyard chopping or cardboard destruction for fun(I admit, I like chopping and smashing stuff), as I don't do much actual bushcraft. I am more a collector than a user(and yeah, I imagine there aren't a ton of people who would find the Bush Knife aesthetically appealing, but I do, heh), though it IS nice to know the quality is there should I decide or need to put it through real use rather than just fun destruction.

I'm taking the katana and the new bushcraft parang as soon as they are out :D i like the village parang but it's way too heavy for long time use , ho boy it's gonna be hard to wait until june :D

I agree sixmoon, The villager parang was too heavy for my liking due to the wood handle. Im sure with the plastic handle, the blade will be somewhat lighter. Im excited for the bushcraft parang as well!!

Backyard stuff is actually a fitting use for a billhook, as they are commonly used for coppicing, hedging, and other gardening/landscaping type tasks as well as woods work. :)

I don't think the problem was the wood handle--Joe Flowers has stated that they didn't stay to his specifications, so I think the factory made 'em a little more chubby than they were intended. :p

How comfortable is the Speed handle they're putting on lots of stuff these days? Is it more comfortable than the El Salvador style polypropylene handle? The El Salvador handle, for me, is tied for the most comfortable handle with Imacasa's Polypropylene Latin handle. If it is more comfortable, then perhaps the Speed Machete will be an upgrade to my Eco Survivor?

I honestly like the El Salvador-type handle better, but the Speed handle is a very comfortable one. I could write a huge monstrous post about why I like the El Salv. better but it's all personal preference stuff and I'm a bit busy at the moment so let me know if you're interested in hearing it and if so I'll type it up later. :D The Speed handle is a very good design, but the El Salvador handle is godly.

What's the status of the Village Parang? I have had one on backorder over 6 months now. Thanks.

No ETA I'm afraid. Pretty sure more ought to start trickling in soon, though I could be totally wrong since it's nothing more than an educated guess.

I'm interested in the matagi and crocodilian and how they stack up against the CS bushman. I had a bowie bushman and loved it.

I am digging the Crocodilian and Matagi. The rolled handle is an awesome design. Damn you 2013 knife line ups! So many things look too good to pass up. I am set to spend a few hundred already, and I only have like $20 to play with.

I have an essentially unused village parang that i'd be willing to trade straight accross for either the new bushcraft parang or the speed machete whenever they come out (if you still aren't able to get one by then).

The weight of the village parang is just too much for me - I would never wear it on my belt and for use around the backyard I'd rather have a longer machete. I just end up using my 18" eco-survivor more.

Just noticed this thread. Nice looking stuff in the lineup. I really like the look of that new parang, and the crocodilian looks like a nice heavy duty piece.

While I wish they'd release more pieces more quickly, I can't fault anyone for focusing on quality. Really wish more manufacturers would take the time to do that.

I REALLY like the fact that they listen to their consumers & can make changes in QControl so quickly !!! This is what makes them stand out as a Company. I also like the fact that they don't just use two thicknesses of metal---it confirms to me that a lot of thought & effort was put into EACH product, which make for a better product for the consumers.:thumbup: :D
