Condor Dundee Bowie... That's a knife!

After a good workout...

I have a question about the tip on my knife. I've been using the heck out of this beast and have the utmost confidence in this blade, but I noticed that I may have an issue. I hope it's purely a cosmetic one, I would like anyone's opinion on the matter. About 5/16" from the tip the blade narrows down and flattens out. Hard to explain, so here's a pic

It's just a function of the hollow grind and the material that you're seeing as "thickening back out" is technically excess from where the grinding terminated. All behind that you'll find it's thin like the "waist" you see there. Nothing to worry about, at least no more so than on any other hollow ground knife with a relatively fine tip. :)

I'm thinking about getting one of these because what you get for the price is outstanding. Are we sure it is a true full tang? I hate handles that hide the tang and in my experience they hide them for a reason. Has anyone had the chance to see one without the handle or any pics from the factory before the handle is attached?

Exactly. I love Condor knives and I'm thinking about getting this one but how do we actually know this is in fact full tang?

Can anyone point me to any pic/video etc., anything that would actually show this is full tang?

I'm of mixed feelings on the Dundee bowie. I love the blade but I hate the handle shape and presentation.

I happen to like it actually, but I'm worried about the tang. I have yet to see ANY proof that it's in fact a full tang.. It doesn't even say it on Condor's website, just on resellers' sites..

Just ask Ben (42 Blades). I suspect it is as all of their blades are that I have purchased including the Moonshiner.

It's a full profile tang. It uses the same tang as the Bushcraft Parang, which I've seen photos of, and the tang is full profile without any skeletonizing, with the lanyard tube passing through the tang itself.

It's way more tang than it needs to be virtually indestructible, honestly. People worry a lot about tang strength but it's mostly irrational. A properly done hidden tapered tang can be stronger than you'll ever need and it simultaneously reduces overall weight while increasing chopping ability.

That would be great. I expect nothing less from Condor. I just wish there was a picture out there that I could see. Trust but verify, I suppose..

I wouldn't like to buy one and find out it looks something like this:

or this:

And here is a comparison:

I would very much prefer the upper one..

One only needs to look at the blade and handle to make an educated guess that the Dundee has a tapered (or reduced) tang. That does not make it bad necessarily. To each his own....

It's being marketed (by most sellers) as full tang..

I would love to buy it but if it looks like the blades in the pictures above, I'm not touching it.

So get one of the other Condor bowies that are full tang for sure. The handle shape and not the tang kept me away from getting the Dundee personally. I generally don't like molded plastic handles.
