Alright, so I was surfing the web today and I saw the Condor Kukri. Man that thing looks sweet :jerkit:. I was shocked at the price being that it is only like 20 bucks. Then i thought about how the cold steel kukri is about the same price. Now the Condor seems to be much higher quality with it's walnut handle (which i dig) and I think it is thicker than the Cold steel. On the other hand I have seen alot more reviews on the Cold steel which makes me think its more popular. So voice your opinions and some pictures of the condor in action would help thanks

The Cold Steel piece has been around for years, while the Condor is new. Still, there are many reviews of both to be found. I personally find the Condor to be vastly better.

What FortyTwo said. There have been many threads on them recently and I have posted pictures-the Condor is the highest performance chopper I own, and one of the cheapest. It's a nice compact size, lightweight and easy to carry. You won't find this kind of chopping performance in any other blade in the size and price range, for sure. The handle is very comfortable and secure, the convex grind is strong and sharp. The .125 inch 1075 combines durability, lightweight and deep biting to produce a real chopping machine.

Wow, at first I forgot about the CS Kukri machete and was freaked that someone found their San Mai III variety for $20 LOL

That's okay, I had to double take when I saw a CS Kuki machete for $90.00ish, a week ago, as it tuns out, someone was selling the CS Kuki machete for $90.00ish.
I think it was a typo though, I went back to the site today and it's at $20.00ish now. That's some typo though. I wouldn't order from this particular site anyway, but still . I wonder if anyone bought one. :p

The condor is nice.
wood grip doesn't require gloves to avoid a hot spot during prolonged use.
yes, the steel on the condor is thicker than the CS kukri machete - it's actually very similar to the older CS Gurkha Lite that predated their 'chete line.

keep in mind - the CS comes with a sheath, the Condor does not. (it's available separate, though)

Condor all the way!! For starters the handle is far better and wouldnt hotspot you to death like the CS plastic one!! The blade edge comes razor sharp (CS has a "working edge" it is dull and crap) and the quality is significantly better on the Condor. it does however cost more but that is because you have to get the sheath for the condor the CS is included...both sheaths are fair but the condor is slightly better. Remember these are machete Kukri not Traditional Kukri. I just got a very long education on them from one of the threads I post a week or so ago.

*shakes fist* Damn this forum!
I'm clearly going to have to add a Condor Kukri to my list of stuff to buy.
You guys are trying to put me in the poor house, I just know it!

Actually a couple of other Condor machetes might go on my list too - they seem really good for ~$20, great value!

I know actually what you are talking about.

That sheath for the condor is a rip. Its almost as much as the kukri. I am likely going to beat the hell out of it so would the old camilus kukri sheath or the cold steel kukri sheath work.

no clue - I'm going to put together a rough kydex and a nicer leather one for mine.

Look on some cheapo site like BudK and get a $5 one with a similar size and a sheath and use that. Or do what I do with my machetes, make one out of cardboad and duct tape. I'd go get mine out of my trunk for a picture, but I don't wanna right now, maybe tomorrow. :D

if u can rigg some kinda machine that will swing one against the other, then see which one wins, to would make good video on youtube.

What about the ESEE Light machete vs the Condor? I'm looking at the ESEE pretty seriously and would like any opinions from owners. :)

It's a big hunk of super nice leather with a swiveling belt loop. Yes, it's almost as much as the machete is. Yes, it is totally worth it. You'll never find a better machete sheath stock from a manufacturer, and they're inexpensive for what they are. Don't knock 'em 'till you try 'em. ;)

They have the same blade. The Lite just has the super cool micarta handle. If you want a sheath for it, though, get the one for the Condor. It will fit the Lite perfectly. :)
