Agreed
Perhaps the seller
Overlooked the Updating post
and or had life to deal with and forgot
Ive done it..We all have..
Glad a resolution/understanding was achieved
Bravo:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: This is how things
should be done. Both sides state what may
have happened or not.. Easy Peasy..
Close it up...:)

Happened to me a few weeks ago. I have to admit that I felt the same way and thought it was in poor taste too. It is what it is.

It isnt a perfect system.. But it works well..Has for years and years
Ive missed out (and was pissed and disappointed) on MANY MANY
knives.. You deal with it the best you can and move along

Ah well, I emailed him first and he ignored me, so I posted here. If someone is good to go I will acknowledge that publicly. If I have a negative interaction with them, same thing. It's his right to sell to who he wants. It's my right to lay out what happened and why it left a bitter taste. I'm not mad about it, just frustrated that I followed the posted rules and got knocked down by an unseen party. When someone buys my knife, even behind the scenes, I change the thread to reflect that.

How did I ignore you exactly? I responded to you twice, both times letting you know that someone else had already agreed to buy the knife. In my second response I even apologized for any confusion that might have taken place.

At the end of the day I am just a knife enthusiast who enjoys knives and was looking to sell a few. I am not a legal professional that is prepared to argue over semantics of a knife sale rule. My intention was to sell the knife to the first person that I received a firm "I'll take it from, which I did through email. Looking back, I would have reworded my rules, but honestly I just made them up in hopes that it would make my transactions smoother. That obviously was not the case here.

^ It's apparent, that your apology was meaningless.

The fact that you even have to come on here (wasting your valuable time), to post an explanation to a member who was butt hurt because he missed out on a knife.

Making this non issue even more pathetic: starting a negative GBU thread, attempting to smear one's reputation...all because you sold your knife to another member...:thumbsdown:

dumb question but how do you know you emailed him first? posted in thread sure but email first? did he tell you that or.............how would you know?

This has gone WAY TOO far to involve any other input of any sort Grasping at straws now..He said...she said ...
He sold to another person.
Chalk it up..
Humble yourself and close this unnecessary thread in
the first place?????
Let it go..
Its a done deal.. Go forward..
Any more input from the person that started this
and or others opinions...
May not result in replies you want to hear?

Geez. Another aubsurd thread started by an emotional potential buyer. No reason for this post here. The seller did nothing wrong. Buyer just got beat to the punch or seller decided to sell to someone else. You were never told the knife was yours. Life goes on.

So the OP is mad he didn't get a knife. He is mad because he thinks his E Mail was ignored. He is mad at a seller for selling his knife to the first person to claim it by e mail.
The OP just wants to stamp his feet over this.
Ok, feet stamped and we listened to your rant.
Big mistake starting this thread. Why don't you suck it up, change the title.....very childish.....close this dumpster fire and move on.
There will be other knives.

Lol, I forgot that a lot of people on Bladeforums are quick to criticize based on their own disposition or assumptions. Never mind how they might react if the same thing happened to them. Let me run it by the haters once more and be done.

He said "first I'll take it followed by a prompt email". Those are two separate actions implying, like most threads, a post and an email were both required. I was the first to post and then email. I'm not mad about it. I did say I was frustrated but another member has kindly offered me the same knife for my troubles. I will likely close this if it serves no further purpose. I learned my lesson and hopefully he learned a lesson as well. No need for keyboard warriors to further antagonize with the aforementioned assumptions.

For the record, if the situation were reversed, I would totally expect the potential buyer to hash it out with me and, barring a response(which was not given after the initial exchange which left me confused as to why I did not have first shot at the knife), I would expect a post here. Gastonian is one of the few people responding here that didn't have a piss poor attitude. In light of that I might as well take this down.

Seller never said the "I'll take it" had to be IN THE THREAD. I don't care how a buyer conveys that to me, if it gets to me first, they get the knife. Unless it's someone with a history of starting threads like this one. ;)

Honestly I don't either, unless I post rules for that very reason. People almost invariably post in the thread to lock it in since that's what the seller is most likely to be watching.

In regards to feedback threads, are we all supposed to pretend we have nothing but good experiences? The only way to offer feedback without buying, selling, or trading is to create a post. That's what this subforum is for. It is what people make it. For me it was simply a negative review when compared to the many other transactions in which I followed similar rules or in which no rules were posted at all, which went off flawlessly. Does it reflect negatively on me as well? Probably, but then again I have never had to post anything negative about a buy or sell thread, nor have I ever had to respond to one, until now. My point was made. I don't want to slander the guy though.
