OK...I bought and paid for two knives here on prod. knives indiv. and they arrived. One is a Tarani 5.11 and the other is a Rat 1 folder.
From what I remember of the original ad(It's was deleted before they got here)
both were supposed to be NIB. The tarani is pretty new but has a repaired chip in the edge, lots of pocket lint and grime.
The Rat has had the clip moved. It's easy to see where it used to be. Has dirt impregnated in one scale, pocket lint, paint missing on all edges of the clip, scratches up and down the blade.
I'd like to re-read the ad before posting this but obviously I can't.
I'd like to speak with Dave(STEO) about this but have not heard back after sending PM....I have read good reviews about him.
Is this some knid of newbie hazing?

no its not. newbies are only hazed in W&C. :D

sounds like the knives may have been misrepresented.

can you post pics?

He just sent me a message regarding the knives. He said that he had them listed as used and would talk with me when back in town. Maybe I was just too quick with the trigger finger on that pair. I just usually don't buy used knives. I'm kinda selfish and like to put any wear on them myself. I'm sure with his great reviews he's right but I will update either way.

Hope it works out.

I save the listing on my PC to refer back to just in case.

Suggestions to help:
1) When Buying save the listing and the pictures.
2) If Selling leave the listing intact except for SPF until the transaction is completed / the Buyer responds the item arrived and it meets their expectations / Feedback is left.
3) If Selling- don’t spend the money until you know the Buyer is happy and the sale is completed.

I'm not suggesting in any way that there was any ulterior motive in the seller deleting the "for sale" descriptions in his ad but for future reference I think it is bad form to do so until the deal is satisfactorily completed. The price paid should give the buyer a pretty good idea of the condition of the knives. Used knives don't sell for even reduced new knife prices normally. Again, I'm not suggesting anything negative about the seller, simply pointing out how to prevent this type of situation in the future.

Dave sent me an e-mail and says the knife was listed as used.He said he deleted the post because of too many PM's about the knives in ?. Well...I guess that's that. He did offer to give me a refund. I'm going to keep them because it's too much aggravation to package, trip to ship....
I've learned a good lesson. Copy the ad when purchasing. It will be a help to me as a general record and also keep me from getting into "he said she said" types of
disagreements. I'm not positive about the original post so I have to give Dave the benefit of the doubt and apologize. I do believe that ads should be kept up until the receiving party has given the thumbs up. I'd think adding a SOLD to a posts should cut down on the extra PM's.
