Congratulations, soldier, you've been drafted. You get to bring ONE of YOUR knives.

Gerber Guardian II.

Thats the six inch versian not the three incher. The bayonet will take care of most of the chores that come with a tour of duty. If I have to use the blade to fight I'm gonna want one thats all edge.

Well, of my collection it'd probably be my Spyderco Starmate. I'm guessing ole' Uncle Sam is gonna outfit me with enough gear that I wouldn't need to take one with me - the Starmate is about as stout a tactical folder as I can find (Sebenza's not included) and isn't going to add another pound or two to what I'm already going to have to carry around.

Plus, it'd free up some space to stash my little Sig 239.

My Buck FieldMate.

Rationale: Although I have a military issue type survival knife also, I know the blades on those things can be brittle. I would want a knife that could be used as a tool and a weapon, so the only decent shealth knife I have is the Buck FieldMate - it has served me well hunting and fishing.

If I had to pick a pocketknife (let's say they said it had to be a pocketknife) - hands down it would be my Camillus Official Boy Scout utility knife. (Again I have a military issue type utility pocketknife also made by Camillus but the cutting blade is less than great).

Rationale: Versatile utility pocketknife. And it is what I am used to carrying.

Now in a real situation, I would tray to take several others, IF I could get away with it....
