Considering a new work knife, suggestions?

Great suggestions everyone. Thank you. I'm leaning towards the delica or mini grip, mostly for the fun and friendly colors, that say "this is in no way a weapon"

Just curious but why are you so worried about what people think? If fun and friendly colors are a requirement for a knife, you probably should just not carry anything. I posted the xl voyager jokingly, but in all seriousness, if its legal then you should carry what you want.

The kershaw leek is great, but the very thin tip means this knofe is strictly for delicate/light tasks. You can never go wrong with an Ontario rat 1. It's easy to sharpen, and for the price, it's a very nice knife. Very utilitarian as well so it's definitely not tactical looking. Another option is an opinel #8. It doesn't have a pocket clip, but it's a great knife

Because what's legal in the regular world, usually isn't in the business world. He is on their property and has to abide by their rules, if he wants to work there.

Delica is a great knife, have a couple, but I like the Grip a bit more just for the fun factor. Very cool little knife with excellent and smooth action!
Carbon Fiber Chap is a real beauty too! I have one in XHP and it is one of my best slicers!!!
Let us know what you decide!

I second the Cold Steel Tuff Lite suggestion. The Boker Nano or the Kershaw Cryo may also work for you. If you are willing to go a bit larger (3.3"), you should look at the CRKT Vox Amicus.

I like a variety of knives but I don't want to find myself in HR my first week on the job to find out that a coworker has freaked out that the new guy is carrying a scary knife. I'd rather just try to avoid the hassle if possible. Maybe in time, once I've established a good reputation I will be less inclined to worry about what coworkers think.

I also got a chuckle out of the voyager suggestion. I figured you were joking.

Consider the Opinel No.8 garden Knife. Locking mechanism, 3 inches, flat grind, 12c27 Sandvik Stainless steel, sorry but no poket clip.. is the less scary knife I have... everybody love it in my office and it cost about 10 dollars..

Love my #8 garden. It is highly ergonomic and insanely light for such a simple knife. Very, very thin blade, though, so keep that in mind when deciding. This is no replacement for a Spyderco or Benchmade, but you may not need that kind of robustness depending on what you intend to cut.

Well, I know it's been awhile. Still weighing options. Probably going to get a delica. Anybody comment on the spyderco persistance?

I like the dragonfly and cat much more than the persistence.
The cat is a scaled down sage 1.

Also I see no one has mentioned the Kahr delica. Tell them it's your box cutter.
