Considering leaving some pretty negative feedback. Should I feel like a jerk?

Situation in the works with a trade. Might work out, might not go my way. Time (and way too much of it) will tell.

So I'm interested in the membership's thoughts about an issue. The person in question is a member here, and the situation is ongoing so I won't give details. Also, you know who you are, and I could care less if you read this, but please don't chime in with your thoughts. I don't care at this point what you think, and I'm likely to blab all the details, which wouldn't be fair since the situation is ongoing.

So, if I do eventually get my knife (and I hope I do) is protocol here that I should, given that I will still be mightily unimpressed, leave positive feedback for a successfully completed transaction, leave positive feedback with a few negative comments, or leave negative feedback and lay it all out for others to decide.

Curious as to others thoughts here. I've been an active member here for a couple of years now, and this is my first bad (assuming it ends up that way) transaction.

As you have chose not to give any details, I'm not sure how anyone can give any useful advice other than Lone _Wolfe post above.

There is also Neutral Feedback which lands in the middle....and comments such as "Great Knife, Comms and Shipping Time left much to be desired"...

That said, yes I would just wait till see when it lands.

Yes, I think my comment indicated that I'm waiting to see how this comes out before making any comments. The truth is, even if I do come out ok on this, I think this guy's a clown. No matter how much he tells me he's a great guy, and brags about his feedback.
Then again, I was a cop for 29 years. I've been called some names, too, so I guess it's all about your frame of reference...

Also, I guess I hadn't considered the Neutral feedback option. Assuming I get the knife, that could be a legitimate option. Thanks.

i have a simple rule. Never trade for something that you can't see and handle. I traded 3 times in the past and have been burned 3 times.

You need to see how it comes out 1st to even know if feedback is allowed. There is no rush. Without details it is hard to say if negative feedback will be right or you are just overreacting. I would start here when you are ready to give details-again there is no rush to leave feedback and being in a hurry has often cost the OP of these threads.

wait and see how it turns out. if it takes way too long or something goes wrong than make another thread here.

You should feel like a jerk for making us click on this thread and then providing no details. It seems like even some idea of the situation would be appropriate. If I were rating this thread I would leave negative feedback. ;)

But assuming I parsed your question correctly here is my criteria as top amazon reviewer: If the product/experience doesnt live up to reasonable expectations and was overall a negative experience because of actions of company or product, i.e. more trouble than its worth, I would go negative. If it is just inconvenient and within the realm of life, i.e. things coming up, things out of their control, just standard crap we all deal with I go neutral if it still was unpleasant for me. Obviously if it was positive I go positive.

Trades in general I think are stickier than a cash transaction--im not saying they have to be--just that in my experience they have mostly been more trouble than they are worth. (A couple members on here excluded.)

I was reminded of this recently when I had a member wanting to trade, theoretically taking a $200 drop on his self valued item, but when I wanted more pictures of the actual logo, i.e. more than the one picture of one side he had provided he disappeared. Haven't heard from him since. Did he get better deal? Did he get busy with life? Was it a counterfeit? It was an Emerson and they are prone to counterfeit but the guy had been a member for a couple years and had a couple positive transactions so who knows... But I considered long and hard putting the screen name on the sales thread because of the suspiciousness of it all but thought eh maybe he just changed his mind and couldn't be bothered to respond (even though he messaged me 4 times in one day to try to get it done.)

You need to get a Moderator involved BEFORE you ever post NEG feedback...

We are seeing this issue over and over with no direction..Information and or if the POSTER has exhausted every aspect
of a resolution

Your assuming is very very evident in your post not to mention your being the pessimist
Since you may have not had deal that had a delay (For all kinds of reasons-It happens) in shipping of course you get concerned...
BUT if you believe in the members here You have nothing to worry about Now do you?

Perhaps there are issues on the other persons end they cant ship right away? Emergencies..Work..Kids..Life happens
Has communication broke down??

I will repeat--Keep communications open--Get a MOD invloved if you are SO concerned on a few day delay!!

I do trade 1 way and 1 way only....They ship first ""NO EXCEPTIONS"" they dont like my terms I move on..

I agree with others..
Perhaps become more patient and give things some time
NEG feedback isnt needed because of a LIFE delay

yep^. what Miss/Mrs/Ms Wolfe said.

^ That's the $60,000 question here, JB! :D

The fact that her username is "Lone," leads me to believe she is either single, or lonely, but either way, on the market! ;) Every time I see pictures of her CRK Sebenza collection...I think to myself: "Now there's my type of woman!" :couple_inlove:

As for the OP here: patience grasshopper.:)

Well thanks for clearing that up for me. I was wondering why my amazon sign on wasn't working.

I was offering my criteria for reviews as someone who has done thousands of them and for numerous companies and is generally considered good at it--I specifically added that it was used for amazon so reasonable people could understand the differences. As for my particular situation that was 2 weeks ago and not a word since. Patience is all fine and good but at some point it has to run out, right? And you can get frustrated thats natural. I have no idea what the situation so I wont speculate any further on how applicable your generic advice is.

^ It's kind of an inside joke, between Gizmo, L_W and myself... PM sent.

FYI: I still haven't gotten over my broken heart, being smitten with BladeGirl! :D

And the humor between us continue............

The only time I will trade is with a member I am familiar with. Too many things can go wrong.
Hope this one turns out right.
Joe
