I am slowly coming up on my 8000th post and I think that is a milestone I might have to do something for. But I don't want to do just a giveaway or something. Perhaps we can get some money in the hands of a charity and a blade in the hand of someone randomly drawn. I have thought of using paypal, but the thought of giving them a dime in order to facilitate what I have in mind bugs me.

Oh yeah, I am trying to see if I can make 8000 before I go to Blade. :)

Heck, I owe you anyways, put me down for whatever long as it's reasonable, just not through paypal if you can help it.

John,

Congrats on being close to 8000 posts.
Maybe I can help you out in the post count by requesting that you send me your Gen 1 SHBA for evaluation and the start of a new passaround.

Well, then. Are you gonna post or get off the pot?

:p

just doing my part to illicit a response that will aid you in your quest!

BUSSE ON!

This Forum is amazing. Awesome gesture, any idea what charity you'd like to donate to?

I would give locally, probably Catholic Charities who do a ton for folks in my area.

Not likely man, you keep trying on the Gen 1. There is always the apprentice I have. It is essentially the same knife except coated and cord wrapped. :D

Great idea ! ...but I would suggest a non-denominational charity to appease the heathens (such as myself) ...

PG,
Are you talking about giving up some blade from your collection, purchasing one for the eventual lucky person, or soliciting the crowd here for a donation, or something else?

IMO, if we (you) do the blade thing, I think it should be a Busse family blade instead of another brand.

What I was thinking was a drawing for a Muddy Skeleton Warden. Everyone could just mail me a buck and put their name in a hat. I'd let my 3 year old pull the name. He'd get a kick out of that.

As for a non denominational deal, I can't say I wouldn't be opposed but as long as it is helping the less fortunate I don't see why my choice of denominational affiliation is a consideration. I am a catholic christian and it colors my world view.

i agree on a charity, but aren't there any pro-knife organizations, or knife makers schools, anything of the like we can donate to?

How about a charity that supports the families of soldiers lost in Iraq/Afghanistan ?

I like the idea and I don't care who is getting the help Christian, Moslem, or heathen, as long as they need it. I was raised a Catholic back when it meant being broad minded and helpful to others no matter what choices they might have made in life that might have been different than mine.

To me if PG wants to do the work he can pick the cause.

Thanks Tony. You know we need some more broad minded folks who are helpful to others no matter what choices they might have made in life, the stage is set my friend, the JP II generation is going to be taking over soon.

Great idea Progunner!

I agree with Tony G, the helping of others is what's important. As long as there's no prosletyzing(I don't think CC has an issue with this in the US). I've worked with several NGOs and you wouldn't believe how these groups can stretch a buck like a rubberband!

Where do I sign up!

And here is the first thing I'm doing... helping Paddling Man...

Boy or girl? (an easy one...)

Tony, you're a gosh darn giver my friend. You even kept it clean enough for me to avoid having to moderate it. :D
