seems like myrtlewood to me, but I can't really tell from looking at the wood, that's just the only handle-material that springs to mind that comes from that area. If it is, I'll take number 5.

The secret number was 14.
The wood that was shown in the photo was black oak. This was cut from a large smooth round burl on an old old tree. Now time to see who had the correct answers and was closest to the secret number.
