Contest/Free Sheath Time!!

So this sheath has been a crazy challenge getting to this point, but last night I finished hand sanding the wooden sleeve and wet formed the leather! I was worried about retention and things like that but after the wet forming it has a decent amount of retention and should be great for belt carry.

And here is simplejacks finished sheath. I had to start over from the first one due to my stitch holes being crooked on the back side from the belt carrier. So this time I assembled the sheath how I normally would then glued the belt carrier on after punching holes, and then used an awl to get the holes on the belt carrier.

You will have it for the second season I should finish it tonight or tomorrow. I just finished doing some work on it before I leave for work and I’m at the final glue up and all it will need is stitching and putting the belt loop on.

the tan dye came out darker than it usually does. I think it’s this new bottle I got, but it will be done and shipping to you this week.

B JACKSON B JACKSON here is your sheath. It’s not 100% historically accurate but in my mind and how I work this made the most sense to me. The wooden blade cover gives a surprisingly great amount of retention and will protect the leather from being cut. For the back stitch I wanted to make sure the sheath kept its shape and didn’t loosen where it needed to keep tight. So I added the saddlers rivets to ensure there should be no stretch causing rattle or if there is stretch it should be unnoticeable along with stitching between each rivet. The belt loop was difficult to come up with, but I think attaching them with the rivets was the best way and strongest way for how my mind worked through the problem. This sheath was a blast and challenge to make and I hope you like it and that it serves you well!
