My wife has been on my case about doing an inventory of my custom knife collection for some time. So since she, the kids, and my sister-in-law were off to see "Chicken Little" this afternoon, I pecked through a spreadsheet and guestimated the CURRENT VALUE of the pieces I have acquired in the last 5 years. Mind you, this is not what I paid for said items, but what you would expect to pay if you purchased these knives from a dealer, purveyor or directly from the maker and had them engraved etc. Keep in mind I collect STRICTLY folders and specialize in gent's folders. Anyway there are two prizes if you guess the number of knives and the estimated value of my collection. A special BONUS prize will be given if the guesstimated value is <1% away from the actual value I calculated today.
RULES:
Guess two numbers per entry, (number and value); closest to the pin wins
NO DUPLICATE GUESSES! If you guess a number someone else hit first YOUR ENTIRE ENTRY IS DISQUALIFIED
Whole number guesses only, any fraction is also a DISQUALIFIED entry
If you are closest to both numbers, you win BOTH prizes, if you were within 1% of the total value of my collection, you won all three!
Contest ends on 11/10/05 @ 2000 hrs EST, because I start my week of call at 1200 hours on 11/11/05
ONE ENTRY PER MEMBER!
MEMBERS MUST HAVE AT LEAST 10 "REAL" POSTS PRIOR TO 11/10/05
I am only counting Handmade/Maker knives, "pimped, hand scrimmed, FACTORY custom" DON'T COUNT!
In other words if you win and you have a low post count, I'm checking your join date and looking at your posts to make sure YOU have contributed to the forum. If I decide you haven't contributed and disqualify you....write your congressman! My toys....my rules!
*******PRIZES*******
Closest to the number of custom knives I own wins a Vortex CR2 Luxeon light, which is basically a CR2 version of the origional ARC and a barely carried Leatherman Juice CS4 in Blue.
Closest to the total estimated value of my collection wins a NIB William Henry S-07 in Desert Ironwood (knife was discontinued several years ago).
THE BONUS
A high end production or low end custom from my collection such as a pre-production Benchmade, Microtech or a small lockback or slipjoint from a "lesser known" maker from my collection worth around $250.
