"So what's the difference 'RadiologIST, and radiographer, apart from education?"
Radiologists are physicians who perform and interpret ALL diagnostic imaging exams and all imaging modalities including ultrasound, MRI, CT, radiographs, nuclear imaging, etc. They also perform interventional procedures ranging from percutaneous biopsy, abscess drainainge and multiple vascular and even so orthropedic interventions. We're also trained in the physics of all modalities we use. A radiographer takes a picture, and may assist in some procedures, but that's about it.
Radiologist= M.D. with a minimum of 5 additional years of post doctorate training, may go up to 7 for some specialties within the specialty
Radiographer= X-ray technologist who takes images with that modality only. May get specialty training in other modalities but DOES NOT interpret images or perform specialized procedures.(Usually 2 year program after H.S., sometimes 4 yrs for B.S. degree.
