Contest Participation, or rather, the lack thereof.

Between work, moving and actually doing stuff this summer, time has just not something I've had enough of. See, during the winter we're all cooped up and have more time on our hands. I liked that wallet - but I'm far more interested in that satchel on the website. It's in my bookmarks under "wishlist" lol!

I haven't been participating in the forum much this summer. Life's been busy for the last few months, and my internet posting time is limited.

As far as my contest participation goes, I've won some pretty damned cool stuff this year, so I felt I had reached my quota for awhile and haven't gone in on any since May or so. I do have my 1000 post count contest coming up, though, so we'll see if anyone will participate in that one. I'm still planning what the contest is going to be. Hopefully some of you good folks decide to get in on it.

Count me in if I have time! I am still yet to win a GAW. Plans or is it top secret?

I suppose Derek that there are as many answers to your question as there are members on this forum.

I have not entered a contest in quite a while but I expect I will in the future. For me it comes down to: is it something that I am interested in?; do I think I have any chance of winning at all?; and of course the biggie, do I have time. That said, if I enter I want to try to win - not so much for the prize (though sometimes they are awesome) but primarily the idea of being the winner..

I am a very competitive person and I love entering these contests. That being said, I have been fortunate enough to win alot of great prizes from alot of generous people on this forum. Thanks again to all of you.

I have had a really busy summer with alot of highs and lows in my life as of late. When I say I am going to enter a contest on here I feel I owe the person an explaination if I do not produce something to offer for critique. As soon as I say "I'm in" that contest consumes me until completetion. It drives me nuts to see more "i'm ins" than actual entries. So that adds more fuel to the fire for me to complete the task assigned and not just talk the talk. So I have been staying out of these while things straighten out for me in my life.

I will say that things are improving and I do look forward to doing more contests in the future.

To those that have the time to compete but do not like the prize, how about this? Enter the contest and learn/refine the skills outlined in the rules. Show others how fun these contests can be and show that the goal can be achieved. In turn this should produce more people interested in participating in furture contests. If you are fortunate enough to win and the prize does not fit your needs why not pay it forward and request the prize be given to 2nd place? Or give it to someone you know to help get them started with a good kit. Incert your own senario here.

Basicly what I am saying is that don't let this place turn boring due to lack of participation.

I haven't really had time to do much recently either. Been crazy busy with my 3 jobs, which cuts down on my ability to enter (and offer) contests. I've got so many designs and plans bumping around in my noggin, but only so much time to actually grind them out into reality. I wish I'd been able to enter the wallet contest, as I do kinda need a new wallet, but I just didn't have the time to make a worthy effort, and I hate entering contests if I can't do them justice. Participation has definitely been low, which is sad when we offer GAW's, but then, better odds for those who DO enter, and real life does have a tendency to interfere, even when it prevents us from benefiting from the incredible generosity on this forum.

when the next contest comes out I will do what ever it takes to win!!!!!!!!!

I think also, it's important to note the lack of alcohol required for these contests.

You won't stand a chance against me, my friend :D

Bring it on woman!!!!! ;)

Hmm, maybe for my next contest, I'll have the winner be the person who can make me the best free leather sheath... :D

Just kidding! You do make really nice leather though.

I would be all over that but I don't have the material or space (ie shop) to do that kinda thing in right now. Our lease is going to be up in May and we're gonna find a new place; one with a garage so I'll have a place to do all my fun stupid shit that I do.... :)

Oh; trust me there will be soon. I'm gonna be all kindsa drunk making fires and playing with knives.
