This contest is on a long term hold.....

Alright you freaking pansies!

I'm extending this until monday morning.

GET YOUR ASSES OUT THERE AND BUILD A BOAT!!

This is an $800 prize guys, don't let this slip by.

Once in a lifetime kind of thing here, I know I can't afford to blow $800 on a training course.

If the regs are too strict..... OK, no steering. You need to be able to control the craft. Be that with skilled oarsmanship or a crude steering apparati. Be able to navigate with it.

And you can use SCAVANGED manmade materials. Plastic sheet, PVC, you find it you can use it.

Go do something for chrissakes!!
Yea, you heard me right....A freaking woodland ops course taught by our very own Jeff and Mike.

April 19-23. You need to get yourself there and be prepared to pay for food and lodging for the nights your not roughing it in the woods. The cost of the course is your prize. That's an $800 prize.

Please read and understand the page provided before committing.

OK, I really hope you guys didn't think this would be an easy win, were going to make you work for it.

In order to be our lucky winner you need to build yourself a watercraft. It need to be able to support your bodyweight and be steerable. It needs to be a useful craft. And we want it made from natural materials using the ESEE blade of your choice. Not so easy all the sudden huh?

Sure, you could cobble together a raft, but this is a pretty damn nice prize guys and girls, bet your sweet backside that somebody will do you one better. Dugout canoes, cedar strip boats....the native americans did it with less tools. Easy is boring.

Lastly, we need photographic or video proof that it works and supports your weight.

Best craft wins. Judged by Tony, the Mrs. and myself with input from Jeff and Mike. Get your enteries in by the 23rd of this month.

I would love to take this course! Unfortunately I have finals that week, so I'll have to sit this one out. Good luck all, and have fun.

I would love to take this course also.. and being heavier is not a problem.. in a survival situation, you will find a way to have enough boyancy.. add more trees, scrap you find on the beach.. anything!

anyway, i would ask the participant to take picture/video of the creation part also.. or they just could find one already made by someone else and not work for it :D sorry for those who planed on cheating

Heading to Home Depot right now.

???????

Less than 3 weeks! Ahhhhhh!

Get to cracking!

being fat is a big disadvantage in this contest... :P

Stop peeking in my windows.

For what? Natural materials and an ESEE blade? They have those at the Depot?

My thoughts exactly!

I don't have my Junglas to use the sheath as a sail yet!!!!

Herm... I'm really tempted to walk out onto lake Erie and chip off an iceflow for this.... but the Coast guard gets REAL pissed about that.

Ok, here's the thing. Is the coast guard going to pay your way to a woodland ops course for NOT doing it????

I didn't think so.

( All actions of Mr. Dizwolf are his and his alone, this post is not an endorsement of illegal or unethical actions. ESEE knives claims no resposibility for the actions of Mr. Dizwolf or any other "RAT/ESEE pack" member. The chipping of ice floats can be a dangerous passtime. Chip ice floats at your own risk. Should rectal bleeding occur during "ice float chipping", it could be a sign of a serious medical condition/allergic reaction to the coating on ESEE knives. You should consult your doctor immediately. Should you encounter a killer whale while "ice float chipping", swin for your life in the other direction. Should the killer whale appear to be following you with it's mouth open, assume your best aquatic fetal position and begin prayer to whatever God you ascribe to immediately. Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars.....)

Excellent creative contest !

Do you mind if I build a submarin (again) ?
:-)

those are pretty hard to steer, even if you do have a Junglas to use as a rudder or keelboard.
