Would love to take the course, but dont have time to take off work and get to play. I like the idea of the giveaway anyway.

Sounds like it's time to get a new job.

If you were half as good at making boats and rafts as you are at making excuses......

:D

Im in.
I will build and sail it this weekend, thanks guys.
This is what type of contests im talking about, keep them coming and I will keep doing my best to get it done.
thanks

Sweet contest, I wish I could participate. Look forward to seeing the entries.

I wonder if I could sew enough "Gar hide" together to skin a canoe or coracle?

The gar where we'll be this weekend are big enough to hollow out and use as a canoe by themselves.

Not too far from Stubblefield, in the Sam Rayburn reservoir, 2 guys recently fought one for over 3 hours and when they landed it, it was 8' 10" long and weighed in at around 300lbs.

Also pulled an 18ft. gator out of the lake were staying on a few years back. You can figure out a way to keep him calm while your on his back, I bet you'll win the trip!

kind of what I was wondering from what a couple of folks had posted.
you catch it, I'll clean it & cook it. :D
and since I won't have that much salt with me, I could try smoking the skin to help preserve it long enough to get home and "weave" a frame out of thumb thick brush found in my pasture.

Ah, a three hundred pound fish should have a pretty sturdy ribcage, I would take the path of least resistance personally.:o

might be worth a try
offer still stands - you catch it, I'll clean and cook it & convert the rest to a floatation device.

Gotta find a frozen lake and make ice skates you of an Rc3! How's that for a maneuverable craft!

I hope ya'll get out and start doing this soon! I look forward to seeing some pics when we get home from the ESEE fest.

Not much time left folks. It would be a shame to waste the chance to train with jeff and mike. Get off your bums and get building!!

For anyone wondering how to keep an iceflow raft going in a straight line, a long line tied to a tree/ branch drag will give enough resistance to keep from spinning as you paddle.

One day, when school, work, and time permit! I want to take this course! I joined this community because I almost died last month, and no big thanks to my own inexperienced self, realized studying english, math, and etc in school is great, so is P.E. and all that. So is coming home and working on my bikes pedal or motorized...but, it clicked. None of that did me any damn good. If my buddy didn't have his 3 or 6? Would've been pretty much LFD. My insignificant little Benchmade folder did little good for anything.

So instead of saving $ to get stuff for my bikes, I am saving to get a small and large pair of knives from ESEE, as well, other gear and supplies. All the sports I play like FB or Soccer, had no application other than I am fit, playing video games and watching movies all the time did nothing for me in my hour of need either.

I felt pathetic and lost. Ugh. Hopeless. My dad is a suit too, and neither of us have ever been fishing, or anything. After seeing my pal could make a fire, used his key rings and cords from his backpack with stuff he also found around, he made this circled traps that when something activated them, they were caught and the circle rope tightened? I am not 100% sure what things are called or proper terms so bare with me, but wow, way off topic, I hope to one day soon take instruction from Jeff and Mike!

Google so far, and the ESEE website have been great help in informing myself!
