Don't get much practice building rafts in West Texas. Not using that as an excuse though.
 
i found a video on a raft... exactly on what i was thinking of doing if i had more knowledge on where to go to gather wood and everything...

would it be ok to post it? or should i wait till the contest is over?

how about you gather the wood and find a swimming pool?
 
that's not a bad idea... we have a big swimming pool here in the apartment... I might just ask the manager :D
So, now I just need to go to a place where I can get some wood :D
 
Tomorrow is the day boys. I must say I'm quite disappointed in the lack of participation on this one. Such an awesome prize to throw away.

I am talking to my boss currently about giving me the day off tomorrow; if so I will have my entry in before 12am tomorrow. Is that ok with you guys?
 
It's because we're all gear queers who don't really like to go outside and get dirty. :D

We had over 2 months to build shelters for that contest and less than 3 weeks for this one. I knew on the day Shotgunner posted it that my weekends were shot between now and the deadline. People getting off work (or school in the case of some) in spring isn't always the easiest either.

Work and family broke this deal for me; mainly I've been working way too much and not been at home enough. There's nothing I need more than a vacation but I guess I need to keep my priorities in line. Enough with that list of lame excuses...

Jeff, I'd like to thank you for offerring this contest (and ALL the contests/giveaways); it's an awesome prize for sure. Shows yet again that you're focused on knowledge and skills and not selling knives. My hat's off to you.
 
Its a great contest and wish I could enter. However the lakes still have ice on them and that ice isn't very safe right now. Thats my excuse. I hope that there will still be future contests and look forward to entering.

This is an $800 prize guys, don't let this slip by.

Once in a lifetime kind of thing here, I know I can't afford to blow $800 on a training course.

If the regs are too strict..... OK, no steering. You need to be able to control the craft. Be that with skilled oarsmanship or a crude steering apparati. Be able to navigate with it.

And you can use SCAVANGED manmade materials. Plastic sheet, PVC, you find it you can use it.

Go do something for chrissakes!!
 
apparently people only like contests where they post their hard earned numbers and sit back...

my excuse is that it's winter.
 
That's a nice ship but I thought the contest said build a boat!:D With that beast you should be able to take the whole rat pack for a sail.
