Just returned from a weekend up north, with some new traditional knife photos! I hope I'm not too late for the contest. By the way, John, don't be too discouraged about the turnout - I have held a few giveaways with less-than-stellar turnouts in the past, and I think that for every entrant, there are a bunch of spectators, which isn't a bad thing if you're trying to spread the word about your new line.
OK, so here's my entry. My favourite traditional knife is a Grohmann #2 bird & trout knife, in carbon steel. It has a classic design, and it just feels right in my hand. This one has been around the block a few times - hence the terrific patina!
And here are a few additional shots of some of my favourite traditional blades, taken this weekend while I was hiking (with a pack full of knives!) on the Bruce Trail:
Another shot of my Grohmann #2, hanging from an old fence:
A Grohmann #4 paired with my EDC scandi. Both have padauk handles, but the EDC knife gets used every day, and the wood has darkened. This is a great traditional pair for day hikes and overnighters.
A patch knife I made from a Green River blade. It has a two-toned padauk and yellowheart handle.
Also, I arrived home today to find a package waiting for me. It was my 7" JK Hudson Bay knife, with torched oak handles, brass pins, and a gorgeous leather sheath with copper rivets. What a beast! I'm extremely impressed with the workmanship on this knife. It combines a very practical design with traditional aesthetics. Look for a review in a week or two!:thumbup:
