Convex edge questions

My Fallkniven H1 has a convex grind with a noticeable convex edge, no secondary bevel. Chris Reeve puts a convex secondary bevel on his hollow ground Sebenza, but recommends the Sharpmaker for maintaining the edge.

Any such edge can be resharpened to a v ground secondary bevel, whatever the original configuration might be. That may date from a general lack of familiarity with simple methods of retaining the convex edge. But why encourage ignorance?

Yes, ignorant like guys like Ed Fowler, no knowledge of geometry or sharpening obviously.

Ipse dixit, Cliff?' Great comeback.

If a technique for maintaining a convex edge is easily available, let's make sure people realize it. They already know how to use a secondary bevel but don't know they have a choice.

It is hardly ignorant to do as I described unless you want to call people like Fowler ignorant. In responce to this statement of FACT as usual you ignore it. Fallkniven themselves recommend that same method of sharpening on the CONVEX ground knives. The ignorance is proposing that this somehow harms the performance.

Whee.

Learn to read.

The ignorance I decry is in not learning the convex sharpening. I have no objection to a secondary bevel, which I maintain on most of my own knives.

Mr. Stamp, I don't like you. I imagine by now the feeling is mutual. Please stop allowing your feelings to interfere with technical discussions.

You are the one with the comprehension problem. In the first post I wrote I clearly stated you can keep the convex grind by rotating a flat stone to directly answer the question asked. I then pointed out that Fallkniven themselves do not do this, they just v-bevel. You then decided to start talking about ignorance which was completely unfounded and similar because you have a person issue with me as you clearly stated.

You still don't get it.
Forget it.

(Hint: it ain't all about YOU. When it's not, MOVE ON.)
