What is MDF?

(This is a 4-1/2 year-old thread, but all that aside... )

MDF = 'Medium Density Fiberboard' (sort of like the older 'particle board, but much better quality); it can be found at Home Depot, Lowes or pretty much any lumberyard/home improvement store.
