reason to buy a BK2? buy one and a puppy gets its wings, kittens won't die, and you won't get banned as fast? :)

seriously, good knife!

All very good points good sirs.

@thelastdaze
I was actually considering a esse 5 but I would like to hear why you went with the bk2 other than the price issue.

It looks like stripping the bk2 is possible with just sandpaper. How are the results with just wet/dry sandpaper and then some polishing material?

Thanks for all the info guys!

That was just with a little paint stripper and 1500 wet/dry sandpaper. Going to go over it with some 3000 grit and flitz polish it later

I have had my BK2 for about 6 weeks, and so far have been very pleased with it. Beat the crap out of it, and it still looks great. It really is a beast of a knife. I like the grivory handles alot more than I thought I would, so definitely give them a chance. (Although the micarta handles sure do look sweet on the chestnut ridge website.) The sheath is so-so, but I am on order for one of Mooses leather sheaths, and suspect it will cure my woes concerning that. Not that the sheath is bad, I just don't like it as much as the one that came with my ESEE-3 mil. The BK2 sharpens up great, and just feels good in the hand - and my grip is not that big - I probably have smaller hands than most. And like everyone else is sayin' - for $65 you can't beat it. Actually, if you buy it and don't like it, I will buy it off of you for $65 - can't beat that, eh?:D

the end of the BK2 grip is 'balled' so you can choke down, grab just the handle end attach a lanyard to your wrist and it gives you more leverage for chopping..

also some don't like the grivory (stock grips) that much and they change them out, I actually like them and think they're fine as is..

go out and get one !! I guarantee you will not be disappointed, if you are I'm sure many here will gladly take it off your hands.. :D

Take care,

Rob

I have both, and they are both good knives, no doubt. I like the drop point on the BK2 better and the grip is better suited for me. That said, I would use either one, for anything I need done.

Not to sound like peta or anything, I love hunting and fishing, but why the hell would you kill a bear???

Now I would really have respect for you if you did kill that bear with the BK2....

The thickness and width of the blade give it a massive presence. Just picking it up, you know it is not going to break.

The best reason to own one is so you can hand it to people and watch their reactions. The BK9 is a very large knife, but the BK2 has so much mass - it has a density to it - that you have to respond to when it's in your hand.

I personally don't hunt, to be respected by others, I do it for me.

The men in the photo were hunting elk, by calling.
The bear was shot at 8 yards while hunting one of the hunters.
It was also killing livestock in the area.
Hunting is a blood sport, not a way to feed yourself.

Not being a jerk just having some fun, with the pic.:D

No worries, I tell my uncle the same thing all the time, he just tells me to
go F&$@ myself....

But I would like to see someone try to take down a bear with a BK2...

That is a big bear. I woulda ate it.

My goal before I die is to do like a Noah's ark sort of thing, eat two of each of God's creatures. Cause I like meat.

Animals are delicious. Had deer burgers yesterday and deer chili today. Wild venison, totally lean, no antibiotics, no hormones. The only person who touched this animal was me. Killed it, skinned it (BK11), cut into roasts, ground it, cooked it, ate it.

There's more to hunting than killing - but killing is a part of it.

Honestly, I hunt because it is challenging and I enjoy having at least some protein that I know has not been adulterated by modern manufacturing process. If you don't hunt, you may never have eaten any really clean, fresh meat.

The BK2 is like hunting, if you don't like it for its own merits you never will.
Its the best knife in the line IMO.
Flexxx no hard feelings either just goofin.

Mmm wild game meat yummy! Alright good job convincing me guys it's on my list of knives to get! For that time I find the need to hunt a panda to try how it tastes (like Oreos I'm hoping)
