hey guys i think im just gonna throw down the $70 and get myself a rat-3. that is unless anyone cares to talk me out of it and into a better option for the same price?:)

I have one. You can't go wrong with it. It is a great price. I am not sure what I paid for mine but I have had it for a couple of years now. Gutted and skinned a deer with it and I haven't had to touch it up yet...

I've ssen the 1095 versions on-line for as little as $59.95.

That's a reason not to spend $70 on a RAT-3.

Do you mean the Ontario version or the RAT Cutlery RC-3 version?

I'm only asking because I haven't seen the RC-3 for less than $90 and have seen the RAT-3 for closer to $60.

EDIT: Didn't know you included S&H in your price.

well the rat-3 is the ontario version

OK, Just makin' sure I wasn't missing out on a RC-3 for $70 :p.

Now that I've managed to get on the same page... My answer is, sorry, I can't convince anyone to NOT buy one.

any other knife suggestions for that price and quality or am i just spinnin my wheels on not buying one?

I've the 1095 version and there's no reason you shouldn't buy it; none whatsoever. In fact if you don't buy it the wood elves will sacrifice you to the tree gods just for spite.

Really though, the best knife I've ever owned.

I had two. The 1095 version's handle was too small, the D2's handle was just right. I loved the blade shape, it would have made a perfect EDC or all purpose EDC camp knife. I would get a D2 version.

and quite a bit more price wise i only want a 3-4in blade, for a carry anywhere, anytime knife

If you buy one...this kitten gets whacked.

You're not going to find anyone here who would discourage the purchase of a RAT-3. Its a great knife. Post some pics up of it being used once it arrives.
