Convince me not to get a rodent 6

So when I started busse knives I had a plan. I bought a rodent solution and ratmandu. Then a matching warden. I knew I would eventually need a big knife 711 or 911 to complete my list and I would be good to go. Everything I ever needed.

I know I don't need a modified rodent six. It doesn't bring anything my ratmandu can't do or an eventual 711 couldn't do. Why can't I get it out of my head??? Someone convince me I should stick to my plan!!! I've been fighting this battle for a month now. During the day, my logic wins but about 8pm I go back to looking at that bug O'le rmd on steroids and logic flies out the window!!!

A month ago I considered selling my rmd to fund a six and 411. Here's hoping this will get the bug out of my system!

I had the same struggle --- then I started looking at the ASH-1 ------ guess which one won out

No - just do it.

Good lord man. Why are you going against awesome instincts! Don't tell us to convince you not to do something awesome. That blade is a workhorse and you know it. Put it on all fours, toss on a bridle and go to town! Get two!

Lol you'll have to excuse us HOGs --- we trample unapologetically and expect the other pigs in the pen to follow suit. With that I start corrected --- get a Rodent 6 & an ASH-1!!!

Ok I will play, dont get a Rodent 6 or an ASH-1 since you already have the RMD and are planning on getting a 711. They are to small to be big and to big to be small. The RMD covers every single thing these two knives will do and more. I dislike the wide blade of the ASH and the Rodent 6 is just a 1/4 inch thick RMD which is unless because 3/16 inch thick SR101 is plenty strong enough for anything you will be doing with a 5-7 inch long knife.

Now that being said go get yourself a Chopweiler and have a more useful knife than a R6 and ASH-1 combined!!! And its infinity cooler looking than a 711 (although likely no more usefull).

The Rodent 6 has been called the poor mans TGLB, if i had a need in the 7"ish category I wouldn't hesitate to grab one...my selection as of now has no practical need for the R6...currently sitting on a TGLB, 1111, and Rodent Solution with a TGLB and RMD on order. Next on the list is small infi, or something in 9".

Eventually I will own more Busse/Kin than I need so the R6 might make the list someday.

I'm still struggling with the idea of replacing the blue/black on tanker grey R6 that was stolen last summer (2 summers ago? I don't know, time is a blur)...but can't quite bring myself to do it. I may order another in a different color scheme; IF they're still around after my pending orders are completed/received.
Personally, I am leery of the handle shape on the R7, which is why I've never purchased one. I've seen favorable and negative comments about it...which pretty much confirms my thoughts that it is a love it or hate thing. If it fits you just right - I'd guess it would be great. Otherwise...?

Man, wrong place for such favors...

IMO you need at least one in each blade length... then a back up to the first lot (different models but same blade lengths...)

Once that is accomplished, you can start considering backup set for your backup set... ;)

Don't even consider buying an ASH1. They are horrible blades! Rob is tapped to suggest such a stupid thing. If you DO buy an ASH come to your senses quick, contact me and I will arrange for its humane disposal at a secure and highly controlled Black Site in Australia. It is the least I can do.

Go buy R6s till your heart is content !!!!!

R6 is one of my favorites. If you need a bomb proof knife and don't want to lay the cash out for INFI the R6 is your blade. Get one before they're gone.

The R6 reminds me of a TGLB, but made of SR-101... hell man, get it while you can, who knows how long it will be available.

--And Andy, you crack me up! Just how many ASH-1's do you plan to acquire? Last night I had a nightmare that I had more Busses than hands, and I could not decide which of them I should take on some journey... I'm guessing this is your waken nightmare every day ;)

And J_mcrane... I think you really want one; get it while you can... or be faced with secondary market prices should the trough run dry of the Swamp's 6s. If it is anything like my TGLB, you will not regret it at all.

Don't sell your RMD, that would be sacrilegious. :)

As for the Rodent 6, don't buy one. Your reasoning for not doing so is quite sound. (And you asked us to tell you not to)

Let me tell you a story.

I have, over the past year, accumulated two RMDs, a Scrapper 5 LE, and a SYKCO 511, as well as a SYKCO 711 and TGLB. (I also have two Fallkniven S1 customs, a Becker BK7, Buck Nighthawk 650, Becker BK-15 and a couple of Gerber Prodigys, so I'm well covered in that 5"-7" blade range).

Yesterday I took delivery of a Rodent 6 that came up on the Exchange here because the price was too good not to and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about, with the whole "poor man's TGLB" and "RMD on steroids" thing.

I can't freaking put this thing down. I love it. It totally rocks my world and I'm || this close to ordering another one. It is, for me at least, the perfect blade. The RMD always felt just the tiniest bit too small to be perfect (I have big hands), and the 711 (and to some degree the TGLB) are just a shade on the big side for everyday crashing and bashing. But the Rodent 6, oh man, it's like someone stared deep into my eyes and said, "let's make a knife that makes this man's soul weep".

So uh, yeah, you shouldn't buy one. Because, umm...........................nah, I got nothin'. 'Cept this:

Ozgooner thanks for the info. Can you measure the top guard and post an in hand photo of it? The top guard is what has been holding me back and I don't want to pay to have it ground off

Thanks
