Ozgooner thanks for the info. Can you measure the top guard and post an in hand photo of it? The top guard is what has been holding me back and I don't want to pay to have it ground off

I have been looking at the busse axe hammer as well. It's .18 instead of .25 in diameter. Both have the rmd handle.

Only a little. In fact one of my two has a slightly thicker handle than the other and is just about right.

30 dollars to grind off the top

You see this is where it gets awkward. In an ideal world I'd get a Rodent 6 with the top guard ground off and liners added to the handle. But that's $30 for the grind and $20 for the liners and the whole product is $258.95. Suddenly the SYKCO TRASH-1, with almost the same blade specs, and the Res-C handle which I know I like because I have the 711 starts to get real appealing at $169.95.

The 'TAC' handle is similar to RMD's handle but not the same.
Both RMD Proto and RMDx LE have longer handle than standard RMD. And they're both at about 6" of blade.

M6/ M9/ Mini Uncle Mojo have the beefier handles in RMD's shape.

And there are a few customised R6s out there...

There's an M6 on the Exchange right now if you're quick. I think I might wait and try and pick up an R6 when I have more funds.

I'm pretty certain I will end up trading my rmd for a sj tac or an axe hammer. I seriously looked at a rmd le and beefmandu but miss the wider blade profile.

Hopefully you've gone ahead and gotten one now. Maybe the best knife I own. Just ordered a TGBG, but I doubt it will beat the Rodent 6.

Rodent 6's are great, I got 1 for each hand :triumphant: . don't know who keeps calling them a poor mans tglb they are totally different. Pretty sure the new BGTG is the poor mans TGLB

I just ordered a Rodent 6 from the Custom Shop - desert sage blade, tan canvas micarta handles (will match my RMD and TGLB) and red liners.

Lol I find that funny as hell..and agree.I dont see the relation of the R6 to the TGLB either..just the double guards? they arent even really similar even.

Any idea on time frame for custom R 6? I ordered one a month ago... Are they 18 months out like the Busse shop? Is it the same shop?
